Xiao Yan was recognized as an exceptional Xiao Family talent from childhood. He condensed a Qi Vortex at four and later became a Dou Zhe at eleven, earning widespread acclaim in Wutan City. His mother died of illness, after which he asked Fu Ye to accept him as a disciple; Fu Ye refused, saying discipleship depended on fate. 657 654 659

His cultivation then began disappearing for reasons Fu Ye said would persist for ten years. The decline stripped him of his status as the Xiao Family's leading prodigy and subjected him to ridicule, but Xiao Yan refused his father's offer to seek Fu Ye's assistance and chose to endure the setback himself. 660
