Three days passed after Peter returned to New York. Just as Strange had said, there was absolutely no sign of Mephisto plotting anything.
Which was exactly what made it feel like one of Mephisto's schemes.
But life had to go on. When school let out, Peter slung his backpack over his shoulder and prepared to leave. He also added to Harry and Amadeus, "I have something to do, so you might not be able to reach me for a while."
"Oh, wait, did something happen? I'll go get ready at Web-Slinger Base."
Harry hurriedly started to grab his backpack as well, but Peter immediately stopped him. "No, no, no, it's not that kind of thing. I'm planning to help out at The Charity Ball today. Though come to think of it, it would be nice if you wanted to come help too..."
"I have something to do. I'm leaving first!"
After saying that, Harry grabbed his backpack and ran off. Peter helplessly shook his head and looked at Amadeus, who adjusted his glasses. "Sorry, but I have several experiments to conduct at Baxter Building. I need to go too."
"Alright." Watching his two friends leave, Peter helplessly shook his head and prepared to go as well. Cindy stood up beside him and asked, "Do you need my help?"
"Oh, no. That's just something between me and them... Don't you have anything to do?"
"No, I don't have anything to do today." Peter hesitated slightly, then nodded. "Alright. Aunt May will definitely be happy to have another person helping out. Let's meet at the school gate."
