The crash in Stark Industries stock had bankrupted a great many investors. Peter had not really understood that at first, so he had not even considered the implications.

So, while helping out, Peter began asking some people who looked like new faces at The Charity Ball, hoping to get a clearer understanding of the situation. He had not paid much attention to this sort of thing after coming back.

Tony still had that "Don't worry, everyone, I'm fine" attitude. After Peter learned about the cooperation between Osborn Industries and Stark Industries and heard that they had temporarily stopped the market from falling further, he had not paid much attention to the matter.
