First, she needed to exchange her money.
The Gold Magistrate's building was rather inconspicuous. Aside from a sign, it had no distinguishing features.
It was completely different from the extravagant, grand, high-class banks she remembered.
But there were far more people.
After finally making it through the line, the clerk's first words at the counter left the woman completely baffled.
"As a foreigner, I have to remind you of one thing."
"To us, the currency of other countries is nothing but wastepaper."
"In principle, you can exchange it for our currency at the exact exchange rate."
"But while exchanging it is easy, exchanging it back is impossible."
"If you can accept that, we can begin."
After thinking it over for a while, she still did not really understand.
The clerk's eyelid twitched. This foreign lady did not seem very bright.
But she had already explained it, and the next person was waiting, so the clerk asked, "How much would you like to exchange?"
"Oh." She understood that. The woman said, "All of it."
"Are you planning to settle in Konoha?"
"No." The woman waved her hands repeatedly, then reached into her pocket and took out a stack of banknotes from a worn cloth wallet.
They were banknotes from the Land of Fire.
The clerk began counting them.
"That comes to one hundred and thirty-seven thousand, five hundred and fifty yen."
The woman nodded. "Mm."
"After confirming the amount, please register your identity." The clerk said, "Be sure to provide truthful and valid information, so you will not encounter unnecessary difficulties in your future dealings."
"I have to register my identity too?" The woman looked troubled.
The clerk glanced at her, retrieved the documents, and said, "We also have anonymous gold cards. Would you like one?"
"Mm-hmm." The woman nodded repeatedly.
