Background
Xue Yun was the Senior Disciple of Shushan's Silver Sword Peak. After the death of the former Shushan Sect Leader, he delivered the jade box left for Li Xuanxiao and sought his junior brother's advice over the loss of both his father and the woman he loved. He chose to leave Shushan to pursue that relationship despite Li Xuanxiao's objections. 2 3
His departure left Silver Sword Peak short of senior disciples, creating problems with the peak's annual Sword Holding Pavilion quota. 10
Years later, Xue Yun returned to Shushan alone and apparently unchanged. His return reunited him with Li Xuanxiao and revived his long-standing rivalry with Silver Sword Peak Master Lu Ziyin. 163
Personality
Xue Yun is calm, confident, and difficult to shake. He was willing to leave Shushan in pursuit of love, placing personal feelings above the cultivation and sect duties Li Xuanxiao urged him to consider. 3
Despite this, he retains concern for Shushan and his fellow disciples. On returning, he encourages Li Xuanxiao not to emulate him, but to surpass him. 163 His final actions demonstrate resolve and self-sacrifice when Shushan faces catastrophe. 176
