Chains Father had already given up on fighting when faced with a monster that simply could not be killed.
Escape... escaping this place was the only way to be saved.
Without hesitation, Chains Father ran toward the far end of the other side of the corridor. There was a window there. Through the glass, he could see the endless void outside, as well as hear his lord calling to him.
He immediately tried to push the window open, but no matter how hard Chains Father exerted himself, it would not budge.
Was it locked?
He could no longer worry about that. Chains Father took out his wand, aimed it at the window, and began chanting a fireball spell.
Scorching flames emerged from the tip of his wand, releasing enough heat and destructive power to pierce a shield forged from steel.
The fireball struck the glass. A great deal of fire rebounded, engulfing the entire corridor. When the flames dispersed, the pane before Chains Father was completely intact.
Impossible!
Chains Father knew the power of his magic was beyond comparison with that of ordinary Spellcasters, and there were no defensive Runes inscribed upon the glass.
He poured magic into the Scorching Flame Inscription he was chanting once more. This time, the flames that erupted nearly swallowed the entire corridor.
The window remained unharmed, without even a single crack. There were no scorch marks in the corridor either.
In that instant, Chains Father doubted whether he had spent over seventy years learning magic for nothing! The power bestowed upon him by his lord seemed false.
But while he was Doubting Life, this life of Chains Father's had already reached its end.
The man holding the axe killed Thorn once again, then swung the axe down at Chains Father's back the next second.
