Before returning to the Demon Realm, Joshua visited the Priest Temple of Aserkelo.
The High Elves possessed the ability to cure gray mist infection. That was also why Joshua had decided to conquer Aserkelo.
"These are all lingering effects left behind by that monster."
As the High Elves' high priestess, Elder Enya received Joshua and led him to the center of the Priest Temple.
"Child of the Forest, could you hold out your hand?"
Elder Enya turned around and extended her hand toward Joshua.
Joshua glanced at Ciri behind him. She was still holding an apple and munching on it, her cheeks puffed up like a hamster's.
"What are you going to do... read my palm?"
Joshua held out his hand. Elder Enya studied his palm for a long time, making it seem rather like palm reading.
"Palm reading? I do not know what you mean, Child of the Forest, but the magic within your body is somewhat restless."
Elder Enya chanted a string of incantations Joshua could not understand. At the same time, her fingertip traced across his palm, and one silver-white Rune after another sank into it with the movement of her finger.
Ciri stood nearby, watching Elder Enya vigilantly, purely to prevent her from suddenly making any hostile move.
Once Elder Enya finished inscribing the final Rune, dim gray mist seeped out from Joshua's body.
"This is the sin borne by your race, Child of the Forest."
Elder Enya looked at the gray mist floating in the air and, with some disgust, used spatial magic to consume it completely.
"Sin?" Joshua clenched his hand. He did not feel any discomfort, then cautiously asked, "Could you tell me... what my ancestors once did... in Aserkelo?"
Joshua's question was undoubtedly a taboo one, and Elder Enya's expression froze
