Earl Cruz was facing a tremendous crisis. He had two sons, both of whom possessed talents in combat and magic far beyond those of ordinary people.

To Earl Cruz, this was the highest honor, though from beginning to end, he had never understood how Etke had earned it.

Earl Cruz's second son was named Vol. He and Etke were twin brothers, born almost at the same time, and they often fought over who was the elder brother.
