The Rules of the Trade

Nolan, Mercenary Guild.

Reyek ran a whetstone across the blade of the long-handled axe in his hand. This axe had been with him for five or six years, and its edge had curled after countless hunts. Reyek had no choice but to have a Dwarf craftsman forge him a new weapon.

But Reyek had pulled this old friend out from a dust-covered warehouse.

"Captain, our target for this hunt is only a Spark Dragon. You can keep resting in the camp for a while longer."

One of Yevirk Serpent's pillars said to Reyek.

"That's exactly why I took this out."

Reyek set down the whetstone, picked up his long-handled axe, and walked out of the camp.

After nearly a month, Yevirk Serpent was once again ready to depart on an expeditionary hunt.

In the past, the Serpent's expeditions had always been for hunting exceptionally dangerous monsters. But ever since accepting the filming request for "Monster World," Reyek felt as if he had returned to his earliest days as a mercenary.

Luo Na had compiled a difficulty ranking for monsters in the areas surrounding Nolan. Yevirk Serpent started with the lowest-ranked monsters and worked their way up, recording each hunt along the way.

Hunting low-level monsters was a dull and tedious process, so every episode of "Monster World" ended with footage of them hunting powerful magical beasts.

This time, Yevirk Serpent's main target was a magical beast known as the Spark Dragon. It was already considered a "dangerous presence" capable of threatening most mercenary groups.

But if Reyek got serious, a Spark Dragon truly could not withstand a single swing of his axe. That was why he had deliberately held back with his weapon before setting out.
