The more Joshua came into contact with the World Tree, the more terrifying he found the compatibility of this world's runes to be.
The rune construction methods used by the Ascendants and the programming models Joshua used were entirely different systems... or rather, two completely different languages.
Yet the runes seemed to possess lives of their own. They had "understood" what Joshua wanted to do and realized it within the Ascendants' World of Consciousness.
After witnessing Bai Yue create rune constructs nearly identical to reality within the World Tree's Consciousness Space, Joshua had considered placing a few "Mini Programs" into the Ascendants' Consciousness Space.
In the end, Joshua's idea had worked. Put simply, a virus had functioned in two completely incompatible systems.
Under Bai Yue's astonished gaze, the black hole gradually shrank. The next second, two young children appeared before Joshua and Bai Yue.
The two children looked to be only around ten years old.
"Matriarch... Patriarch... you..."
Bai Yue's cry confirmed to Joshua that he had not "captured" the wrong people.
They also seemed particularly bewildered by their surroundings.
"Welcome to the World Tree's Consciousness Space, you two." Joshua's voice interrupted their thoughts.
"The Watchers, and Bai Yue Number Twenty-One, who was lost outside."
The girl among the two children recognized Joshua and Bai Yue. She glanced at her own hands.
"You invaded our world... and stripped away part of our consciousness, then used..."
"The World Tree's Leaf to send it here."
Joshua explained the medium that had brought them here for the Matriarch.
"Watchers, give me a reason for doing this."
The boy called Patriarch was far calmer and gentler than the girl. Even in such unfamiliar surroundings, he remained quite friendly toward Joshua.
"Today is the thirty-seventh day of Late Autumn Moon."
Joshua suddenly mentioned something irrelevant.
