A gentle halo of light filled his vision.
The halo descended through the clouds, scattering and reflecting. Some rays pierced the mist and shone upon a magnificent, radiant city beneath the clouds, while others lingered and drifted among them.
A breeze swept past, dispersing the clouds and revealing endless starlight blanketing the Milky Way—bright yet gentle.
A figure in azure stood within the grandest palace in the city. The palace resembled the Pantheon of Ancient Rome, with a large circular opening, 8.9 meters in diameter, in its dome. Starlight passed through the opening, forming a straight beam of light.
The figure stood within the beam. His sea-blue hair and elegant blue robes gave him an aura of sacred radiance.
Through the opening, he gazed at an exceptionally brilliant new star in the Milky Way.
With a soft sigh, the worry between his brows deepened.
Perhaps sensing the man's sorrow, an incomparably beautiful woman in a long pink dress, her hair braided into a long scorpion tail, stepped forward and embraced him. Her soft, boneless hands gently brushed the worry from his youthful face.
"You're already a mother, and you're still acting spoiled." The man smiled at her.
The woman in pink wrapped her arms around him and pouted with some dissatisfaction. "Hehe, I just saw that you seemed a little worried. Besides, even after becoming the God Realm Enforcer and the Sea God, aren't you still called Tang San? You're still my Third Brother!"
"Xiao Wu, hmm!?" Tang San had just begun to speak when the stars before him suddenly erupted with intense light. The brilliant radiance passed through the circular opening and shone directly upon Tang San and Xiao Wu.
A wave of heat rushed toward Tang San with the light.
Tang San hurriedly pushed Xiao Wu away, then gave a light leap. In an instant, he passed through the opening and landed atop the palace dome. Bracing against the intense light, he examined that dazzling new star, but the radiance was far too blinding. Even a god could not see through it.
Fortunately, the intense light came quickly and left quickly. Once it faded, the stars returned to normal, though they seemed brighter than before—or perhaps more alive.
Tang San's expression did not improve with the fading light. Instead, it grew increasingly grave.
"Third Brother, what happened?" Xiao Wu followed close behind, passing through the opening as well and landing at Tang San's side.
"The new star I chose has disappeared." Tang San frowned.
"Is that a problem?" Xiao Wu asked in confusion.
"I spent great effort sorting out his Destiny. It had already become inextricably linked to my Tang Sect, but now the new star has simply vanished." Tang San frowned as he looked down at the lower realm.
Worry filled his face. Although the new star's Destiny had already been set in place through his guidance, and there should not have been any accidents, one could never be too careful.
If something had truly changed, the already declining Tang Sect might disappear into the river of history forever. But what worried him even more was that this change might affect his arrangements for Xiao Qi.
At this moment, Douluo Continent was no longer as clear to him as it had been in the past. It was as though someone had shrouded it in a layer of mist.
Thinking of this, Tang San immediately activated his Purple Demon Eye and looked toward the mist.
"Ah!?" Tang San suddenly cried out. Two drops of golden blood flowed from the corners of his eyes. Xiao Wu immediately stepped forward and supported him, asking anxiously, "Third Brother, are you all right?"
"I'm fine." As he spoke, Tang San patted Xiao Wu's hand to show that he was unharmed.
He turned and looked at Douluo Continent with terrified eyes. That was not mist—it was a layer of dazzling sunlight.
"Where is Xiao Qi?" Tang San wiped the blood from the corners of his eyes and asked.
Worry still lingered on Xiao Wu's face as she answered, "She's sleeping in her room."
"Mm, I understand." Tang San nodded and looked toward Xiao Qi's room. He had not failed to see everything just now. Through his perception, gods could no longer interfere with that world. This time, they truly could not interfere.
At the border between Douluo Continent and Sun Moon Continent,
Within the lush forest, branches sprawled everywhere. Aside from a few paths frequently traversed and trampled out by forest animals, the rest of the terrain was difficult to cross.
A woman covered in bloody wounds carried a swaddled infant as she hurried through the forest. More than half of her Soul Power had already been depleted, and tree branches constantly lashed across her body.
Even the intact skin exposed to the air had been cut open by the sharp branches as she moved at high speed. Some branches even tore across her previous wounds.
Blood splattered onto the verdant leaves.
There was not a trace of pain on the woman's face. She had no time to feel pain, just as she could not spare the remaining small portion of Soul Power in her body to protect herself.
She turned to look behind her. Seeing no one in pursuit, she still did not dare stop, nor did she dare slow down.
Bang!
An explosion suddenly sounded behind the woman. Her expression tightened. She glanced at the child in the swaddling clothes and whispered, "I'm sorry, baby."
The Soul Power within her body began circulating along a special route. If the man behind her, who had used self-destruction to block the enemy's path, had been there, he would certainly have known that the woman had begun burning her life force.
The child in the swaddling clothes suddenly began to cry, then stopped abruptly. Alarmed, the woman hurriedly opened the swaddling clothes and looked at the child. When she saw the child grin at her, she finally relaxed.
I'm still alive...
