Deep within the Medicine Garden, atop the altar.
I sat cross-legged at the edge of the altar. Due to the rampage of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix's lingering soul power, I fell into a daze and nearly toppled headfirst from the several-zhang-high altar.
"Screech!"
Suddenly, a violent phoenix cry rang directly in my mind. I looked around and discovered that, at some point, I had appeared in a primeval mountain forest.
All around me stood towering trees that would take more than a dozen adults to encircle. Beneath them were lush green shrubs, vines, and weeds desperately drawing in sunlight and rainwater as they grew, densely covering the entire forest. Centipedes, spiders, and venomous snakes the size of calves crawled through the ancient woods, creating a chilling sight.
After a proud seven-foot-six man like me was thrown into this forest, I was shocked to discover that I was not even as tall as the "shrub" beside me... if that thing could even be called a shrub.
A "Heavenly Demon Phoenix" with a wingspan exceeding twenty zhang circled through the skies above the primeval forest, its entire body shrouded in blazing golden flames and radiating a violent, savage aura.
"Is this... the Soul Battlefield?"
I frowned at the flaming bird flying overhead. I knew it was probably not a Heavenly Demon Phoenix, but that "Ancient Heavenly Phoenix." This overly dense forest, so thick that sunlight could barely penetrate it, should have been the ancient forest where it once lived. Its trees, insects, and snakes differed greatly from those of modern forests.
As expected of an eighth-rank magical beast. Even after being dead for so many years, it refused to await its fate. With only a trace of lingering soul imprint left, it still wanted to make one last desperate stand before fading
