Under the Starry Sky

After dinner, the sky gradually darkened.

Su Bai and Chen Yusheng cleaned up the campsite.

Night fell quickly, and the temperature in the valley began dropping again. But compared to the blizzard from a few days ago, tonight was clearly much milder.

Most importantly—the sky had cleared.

Su Bai looked up. The lead-gray clouds had long since scattered completely, replaced by a deep, inky blue.

A few stars had already eagerly appeared, glimmering faintly in the twilight.

"Shengsheng." Su Bai turned around and beckoned to Chen Yusheng, who was crouched at the tent entrance organizing the sleeping bags. "Stop tidying up. Come here."

Chen Yusheng looked up, confusion in her cool eyes. "What is it?"

"There's something good to see tonight." Su Bai smiled mysteriously and pulled two folding chairs and a thick wool blanket from the car. "The forecast said visibility would be excellent tonight. No clouds in the way—perfect for stargazing."

Chen Yusheng froze for a moment, then her eyes lit up.

She quickly got to her feet, dusted off her hands, and jogged over to help.

Together, they set the folding chairs on an open patch of ground outside the campsite with a broad view. They reclined the backs all the way, so they could practically lie flat.

Su Bai spread the wool blanket over the chairs, then patted the spot beside him. "Come on, lie down."

Chen Yusheng obediently lay down. Su Bai followed close behind and lay beside her, their shoulders touching as they faced the sky.

The night deepened, and more and more stars appeared.

At first, there were only a scattered few. But before ten minutes had passed, it was as though someone had torn open the sky, and countless stars came pouring out, dense and packed together, filling the entire night.
