The Linjiang Private Kitchen stood beside the river. Its entrance was modest, but the interior was quiet.
Su Bai pulled up outside in his Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Xia Lin sat in the passenger seat. After unbuckling her seat belt, she did not get out right away. Instead, she turned toward Su Bai and straightened his collar.
"Don't drink too much later."
"I'm not driving afterward. That's why I brought you, isn't it?"
"You still shouldn't drink too much," Xia Lin said naturally. "Drinking on an empty stomach is bad for you."
Su Bai looked down at her.
Xia Lin had changed into a fitted, light-blue dress that beautifully accentuated her waist. With her long hair pinned back, she looked gentle and poised.
"Ms. Xia, you're getting more and more like a wife keeping her husband in line."
"You don't like me looking after you?"
"I love it."
Su Bai smiled and took her hand.
Xia Lin gave a gentle tug. When he did not let go, she let him hold her hand, and they walked inside together.
A server was already waiting at the entrance.

Their room was at the far end of the second floor. When they opened the door, a middle-aged man in his forties was already seated inside.
He wore a dark shirt and an understated mechanical watch. His hair was neatly combed, and a black document bag rested beside the table.
The moment he saw Xia Lin, he stood up.

"Not at all. I only just arrived myself."
