And so I wrote line after line.
Yet I could not find the words that were true.
Though it was my own diary, a diary only I would read, I still had not written down my honest feelings.
So, really.
It was a mess, fragmented and disjointed.
Honest feelings were too hard to understand.
Maybe I was writing this diary precisely to search for them.
Halfway through writing, I hurriedly crossed it out. I even scribbled over it with my pen, added eyes and a tail, and turned it into a caterpillar, pretending I had never written those words.
That was enough for today.
School started again tomorrow, so there would probably be more to write about—I thought as I flipped open tomorrow's section, where not a single word had been written yet.
Ah, right. I had to buy a cake. Remembering that, I wrote the five big words, "Remember to buy cake," then circled them heavily so I would not forget.
This was not a diary at all. It was a planner.
As I chuckled bitterly to myself, I felt something soft brush against my ear and neck.
Huh!? I let out a soundless cry and was about to turn around when—
"Hehe♪"
My headphones were suddenly taken off, and cheerful laughter entered my ears. I turned around in surprise and saw Mom standing there, holding them.
Phew, you scared me... My helpless sigh made my tone sound a little irritated.
"Mom, what are you doing...?"
"Sorry—I did knock."
After taking the headphones from Mom, I guiltily lowered my eyebrows and pressed my hands together.
"Ah—I didn't hear you. They're noise-canceling headphones."
"Ohh, noise-canceling? These headphones are amazing~"
That was right, noise-canceling was amazing. Thinking that, I switched off the headphones and placed them on top of my diary.
