Endless clouds and mist swirled around a towering mountain range that pierced through the fog!
It was so high that it gave one the feeling it could poke a hole through the heavens.
The tallest mountain in the Central Imperial Heaven of the Nine Heavens, a terrifying range whose height was unknown.
Yet atop the peak stood only an utterly dilapidated Daoist courtyard. Before it hung half a battered wooden door, seemingly rotted by the passage of countless ages.
Above the courtyard gate hung a plaque. It too was made of wood and riddled with holes, while the three words "Fated One" were written in vigorous, powerful strokes!
There was only one person in the Daoist courtyard: a young man in a gray Daoist robe. A yellowed, tattered strip of cloth was tied over his eyes, covering them as though he were blind.
The young man sat cross-legged before a dirt pit. To his left lay a palm-sized tortoiseshell, while before him stood bamboo tubes one after another. Inside one tube were two crickets, piled on top of each other...
"Hey, hey, hey! I told you two to bite each other. What are you doing piled together? Mating?"
The young man used a straw in his hand to separate the two crickets. "I asked that big dumb brute to catch crickets for me, and he actually caught one male and one female?"
Just as the young man was feeling depressed, a knock sounded from outside the Daoist courtyard.
Five or six figures appeared before the door. "Immortal... we have come to ask for your help."
A middle-aged man carrying a longsword on his back stepped forward and asked with extreme humility.
