| Knight | 2 | An ambitious Royal Knight Academy graduate who seeks land and advancement beyond knighthood. |
| Baron | 264 | Referred to as Baron Boman while standing with Fas amid Henry's confrontation with the prospect of imperial action. |
Background / History
Boman and Fas came from Boros, a free city near the Royal Capital, attended the Royal Knight Academy together, and were childhood rivals. Boman claims he consistently outranked Fas, while Fas continues to challenge him in nearly everything. 2
As a first-generation noble of common birth, Boman built his position through academy scholarships, tournament prizes, and royal grants rather than inherited family wealth. He openly desires the villages, castles, and cities that a mere knight cannot possess. 2 4
He proposed an alliance with Henry to seize opportunities in the Pioneering War, particularly unclaimed territory left after two knights under his command died fighting Demihumans. Henry accepted the gesture but initially had no intention of true cooperation. 2
By the time of the campaign against Earl John, Boman had a wife and children and commanded roughly 5,000 men, including serfs, archers, infantry, Grassland Warriors, and logistical auxiliaries. 135 245
Personality
Boman is forthright about his ambition, envisioning advancement from knight to baron, viscount, or count. He is optimistic, sociable, and readily expresses admiration or envy when confronted with Henry's growing military strength. 2 30 135
His competitive streak defines many of his interactions. He needles Fas over academy rankings, challenges Henry in hunting, fishing, games, chess, and eating contests, and refuses to gracefully accept defeat. 2 31 151
Boman is intensely enthusiastic about warfare and military life. Large-scale siege warfare excites him precisely because it offers the command experience and spectacle unavailable in the small conflicts he previously fought. His eagerness can become reckless, as when he imagines flattening Odoh with stone projectiles. 256
Despite this ruthlessness, he is a loyal companion in crisis. He worries about Henry's escalating conflict with Earl John and later stands with Henry and Fas when they fear the Emperor may act against their group. 135 260 264

Story Role / Major Arcs
Pioneering War and Demihuman Campaign
Boman meets Henry in Audoh, proposes an alliance, and hunts alongside Henry and Fas. He participates in Earl John's arena tournament, though he loses to the Earl's second son after claiming exhaustion from earlier matches. 2 5 7
He joins the expedition against half-orcs and serves among the knights using cavalry lances. After the campaign depletes their forces, he agrees with Henry and Fas to leave the Legion and develop their territories rather than remain in a prolonged war. 12 14 30
Return to the Territories
While traveling home, Boman loses a spear-fishing contest and several games to Henry. He also assists in skinning black bears killed by Henry. 31 32
He and Fas later focus on rebuilding their lands and amassing resources, eventually financing military growth through caravan “protection fees.” 135 246
Desert and Lizardmen Campaign
Boman reunites with Henry and Fas at Danustica after all three receive imperial orders to support the Third Prince in Hubia. He is impressed and envious upon seeing Henry's army. 135
He helps restore order in gang-controlled Lazihe City, plans the Lizardmen ambush, and fights alongside Henry and Fas when Lizardmen leaders target Henry. 136 137 138
Although eager to join the dangerous reconnaissance mission into Lizardmen territory, Boman's impulsiveness contrasts with Fas's caution. 142
Conquest of Audoh
Boman and Fas contribute their armies to Henry's campaign against Earl John. After witnessing the scale of Henry's forces at Simila Fort, Boman accepts that Henry's military power far exceeds what he had imagined. 246 248
During the siege of Odoh, Boman revels in the bombardment and advocates extreme destruction. He obeys Henry after being rebuked for disregarding morality and the future governance of the city. 256
He leads troops in the final assault, then presses Henry to find Earl John after the city falls. 258 260
Grassland Noble Coalition
As Henry's conflict with the Emperor becomes a possibility, Boman stands with Fas before Henry, visibly entertaining thoughts of treason and resistance. 264
He later secures five southern Autongard nobles for Henry's faction. While Fas conducts harder lobbying in the north, Boman spends extended periods enjoying West Lyme Fortress's food, wine, and social life. 270 275 277
Trivia

- Boman has repeatedly lost to Henry in recreational contests, including spear fishing, games, and chess. 31 151
- He and Fas could barely lift Henry's great axe and warhammer together, while Henry later wields one in each hand in battle. 258
