Background

Chen Mu originally ran a business after university and briefly became wealthy, but a high-interest loan and business failure left him unable to repay his debts. His father died in a construction-site accident while trying to help, and his mother died soon afterward from grief. Believing he had failed them both, Chen Mu attempted suicide by drowning. 1

At the brink of death, his soul merged with that of an alternate-world Chen Mu in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The counterpart shared his appearance, personality, and parents, but belonged to a wealthy family that owned a factory producing electronic components, small appliances, and toys. 1

The Huaqiangbei System appeared after the merge and gave him a mission: lead China toward revival. After learning that the System could analyze, research, replicate, and manufacture technologies, Chen Mu accepted the task and renamed the AI assistant Xiao Ai. 2

Appearance

Chen Mu is generally perceived as an ordinary human despite his later power. For a National Day military parade, he wore a formal military uniform and kept his hair neatly cut short. 102
