In the Federal Court, there were quite a few cameras; just inside the courtroom alone, there were eight hidden cameras. And every waiting room also had cameras monitoring the witnesses' every move.
Sea Emperor easily took control of the network and cameras there. In less than a second, it saw the remaining four witnesses' appearances. It also knew very clearly that among these four, Gu Ding had only met one; the other three were likely fake witnesses Prisson had brought in.
"Gu Ding, there are three fake witnesses you've never seen before," Sea Emperor warned.
Gu Ding silently nudged Reed with his elbow and whispered a few words to him.
A moment later, Reed suddenly spoke up. "Your Honor, before the other witnesses are brought in, I have a request."
The presiding judge was slightly surprised, unsure what Reed intended. "Go ahead."
"To prevent anyone from giving false testimony, I'd like to temporarily switch places with Gu Ding. I'll sit in the defendant's seat. If the witnesses can't tell that I'm not Gu Ding, then it's clearly false testimony." Reed guessed that Prisson might have hired people to give fake testimony. Of course, this was just a simple screening method—if the witnesses actually knew Gu Ding, this approach wouldn't work. "You can bring all the witnesses up at once, but they must be isolated from each other to prevent them from coordinating their statements."
"Your request can be granted," the presiding judge nodded.
A moment later, four people were brought in, all wearing special Electromagnetic Helmets that blocked their sight and hearing. Gu Ding, sitting in the lawyer's seat, swept his gaze over the four, pausing only briefly on one tall figure whose mental state was clearly poor. Of the four witnesses, he only recognized this one—the guy who had escaped with Bo Lunte earlier.
After the staff unlocked the four's Electromagnetic Helmets, Gu Ding spoke. "Just answer my questions directly. No need to waste time on other things."
When the tall guy saw Gu Ding, his expression froze for a moment. The other three showed no reaction, clearly mistaking Reed for Gu Ding.
"First question: Is the defendant currently sitting in the defendant's seat the person you saw at the crime scene?"
"Yes!"
"Yes."
"Yes."
Three gave affirmative answers. The tall guy remained silent, then finally squeezed out a few words. "No, it's not him."
"It is him. I clearly remember that face," one immediately retorted.
The other two chimed in, "That's right, I remember it was him."
"Giving false testimony won't get you punished, but it will be recorded in your permanent file. Didn't anyone tell you three about this before you came? Once you have that kind of **record, none of the Federal Government's subsidiary branches will accept you. And those branches aren't just the Federal Prison, but also the Federal Court, the Federal Army, and so on," Reed, sitting in the defendant's seat, spoke up.
Hearing this, the three's expressions immediately turned panicked.
"Your Honor, giving false testimony is strictly prohibited in the Federal Court, isn't it? How these three should be dealt with is up to Your Honor's decision," Reed pushed the matter to the presiding judge.
"Record today's false testimony and enter it into their files. After this trial ends, the Federal Court will notify their respective departments and other relevant agencies for a public reprimand." The presiding judge looked very displeased. Having served as a judge for over twenty years, nothing disgusted him more than false testimony. And undoubtedly, these three had been sent here on Prisson's orders.
"As for the remaining one, his mental state is also very poor. Like Bo Lunte, his testimony falls under the category of invalid evidence," the presiding judge continued. "That means, Warden Prisson, you no longer have any valid witnesses. And since you haven't submitted concrete evidence of a crime, I have no choice but to close the case here. Does the jury have any opinions?"
A few minutes later, the jury reached a unanimous verdict—Gu Ding was not guilty.
With the jury's decision in hand, the presiding judge finally announced the case closed. "I hereby declare Gu Ding not guilty and release him!"
Hearing this result, Prisson's face turned ugly, but he had no more evidence. From a distance, he glared at Gu Ding with fury.
Gu Ding looked back at him, bared his teeth in a mocking smile, and walked over.
"Warden, you don't look so good."
Prisson suppressed his irritation, didn't respond, and turned to leave.
"Warden, a friend of mine just sent me a few videos. I think you'd be very interested in watching them." Gu Ding's tone carried a hint of mockery. "I've already sent them to your public email. Feel free to check them."
Prisson glanced down at his Smart Ring. The ring projected a screen onto his palm, about half the size of his hand. There were three emails from Gu Ding. Prisson opened the first one in silent mode.
The video showed him torturing a prisoner. He zoomed in on the prisoner's face—it was Bo Lunte. The video was real. His mood immediately grew uneasy, and he opened the second one.
The second video showed him torturing another prisoner who had just testified in court.
Then he opened the third email. This one wasn't a video of him torturing prisoners. Instead, it showed him sitting in the Federal Court, with his lawyer whispering in his ear. He clearly remembered this scene from just over ten minutes ago—the lawyer had told him that if there was no evidence, they could torture Gu Ding once he was temporarily held in the Federal Prison. In the video, the brutal smile he had directed at Gu Ding was given a close-up.
Closing his email, Prisson turned around. He knew that if he ignored Gu Ding's threat, he could lose his position as warden, or even end up in prison. "What do you want?!"
"Warden, you should be well aware that the behavior in those videos is a crime, right?" Gu Ding's lips curled up.
Prisson stared coldly at Gu Ding, silent.
"My friend says he has nearly a thousand videos like that," Gu Ding continued. "That's enough to send you to Tianhe Prison Headquarters for over three hundred years. Imagine—a warden being sent to his own prison. The other inmates would probably be thrilled, wouldn't they?"
"What do you want?" Prisson's heart skipped a beat. This was exactly what he feared most. His tone softened. He had tortured many criminals at Tianhe Prison Headquarters. If he were sent there, it wouldn't just be tenfold payback.
"Simple," Gu Ding knew that Prisson's attitude meant he was ready to negotiate. "Stay away from me and my friends from now on."
Prisson breathed a slight sigh of relief. He had thought Gu Ding would try to extort something. Hearing this, he nodded. "I can do that. Any other conditions? You'd better state them all at once. I don't want to be blackmailed a second time."
"Second condition, even simpler." Gu Ding summoned his Armament, clenched his right fist, and threw a fierce punch, slamming it hard into Prisson's face.
Prisson didn't defend himself at all. Though he was a Fifth Order Gene Body, blood still streamed from his nose.
Many people in the courtroom hadn't left yet. Seeing this happen, they were stunned. Pa Ma, who had just arrived, also witnessed the scene and covered her mouth, almost screaming. Guards rushed over, but Prisson, standing up, waved them off.
After being hit, Prisson's expression remained calm. "This is a personal matter between him and me. Withdraw!"
"This punch is for Uncle Kane!" Gu Ding said fiercely.
Then, a second punch flew out, smashing hard into Prisson's cheek. "This punch is for everyone you tortured!"
Prisson still didn't defend himself. His body was sent flying, crashing into and breaking several chairs. He stood up again, his left face swollen beyond recognition. Spitting out two loose teeth, he walked back to Gu Ding's spot with an indifferent expression.
Gu Ding clenched his fist, gathering strength for a long moment. As Prisson approached, he threw another heavy punch, slamming it straight into the man's nose bridge. "This punch is for myself!"
Prisson's body flew backward again...
Watching this unbelievable scene unfold before them, everyone was utterly stunned. Even Reed, who was skilled at reasoning, stood with his mouth half-open, watching from a distance. They had no idea what leverage Gu Ding held over Prisson that made him willingly take a beating in front of so many people. After all, that guy was not only extremely vengeful but also deeply concerned with saving face. This kind of thing—forget about saving face—he had completely tossed his dignity aside.
Prisson stood up, his nose already collapsed, blood streaming uncontrollably, his mouth full of gore, and his face so swollen it was barely recognizable. Yet he still walked calmly toward Gu Ding.
"The grudges between you and me end here." As soon as Gu Ding said this, Prisson let out a complete sigh of relief.
"Remember the conditions you agreed to." Gu Ding left behind these words and walked away, leaving everyone utterly bewildered.
Even Pa Ma, standing at the door, was momentarily at a loss for words. She had originally planned to use the Medicine God Alliance's reputation and her teacher's prestige to warn Prisson not to provoke Gu Ding. But she never expected that as soon as she pushed open the doors of the Federal Court, she would witness this scene.
"Let's go!" Gu Ding waved at Reed and strode off.
Halfway there, Reed couldn't contain his curiosity and asked, "What exactly happened back there?"
"Nothing. I just felt like beating him up, so I did!"
(Oh wow, I saw Ugly God's tip first thing in the morning. I've been keeping a low profile with this new book and didn't tell many friends in the circle. I don't know how he found out... Anyway, I have to thank Ugly God for the tip. Everyone, please support Ugly God's new book "Demon God"!)
