Fan Wei, now increasingly zombified, was no longer human. His roars and the way he got up from the ground were exactly like a zombie!
Chen Shaoye sniffed the aroma of the hot pot and felt an intense hunger. Unconsciously, he picked up the fire axe from the ground, gripping it with both hands, his gaze fixed on Fan Wei, who seemed to be 'waking up.'
Chu Han glanced at Fan Wei when he had a moment, just in time to see the gray-white pupils Fan Wei revealed after standing up. As expected, he hadn't escaped this fate.
Chu Han watched Chen Shaoye, whose movements were far from proper and whose body trembled as if it were vibrating: "Chop the head. It won't die unless its head is destroyed."
Splat! Splat!
Drops of sweat slid down Chen Shaoye's face. In just this short time, he had broken out in a sweat.
Roar—
Fan Wei suddenly roared and lunged at Chen Shaoye, who was opposite him. His mouth suddenly opened to an unscientific degree, revealing gums oozing black blood. His skin wasn't really skin; his gray-white face seemed to be cracking.
Chen Shaoye let out a sound that was neither a cry nor a laugh. He closed his eyes, adopting a "throw caution to the wind" attitude, and swung the fire axe forward with all his might!
One strike, and he missed.
Because Chen Shaoye swung the axe too hard, he stumbled a few steps, narrowly dodging the zombie's slow attack.
What luck!
Chu Han, watching from the side, couldn't help but curse internally. He doubted again if he had found the wrong person. Missing a target right in front of him? With this kind of accuracy, could he really be a sharpshooter?!
Splat-splat! Chu Han couldn't bear to watch and started putting meat into the hot pot. This was his last chance for Chen Shaoye; he wouldn't offer any help.
The lamb cooked in the hot pot, sizzling and spluttering, filling Chen Shaoye's nose and mouth with an indescribable aroma.
He swallowed hard, glancing back at Chu Han. The lamb was cooked, and Chu Han had started eating.
"Ah!" Chen Shaoye suddenly mustered his courage and shouted, charging at the zombie with wide eyes.
He wanted to eat meat! He wanted to eat hot pot! What were zombies compared to that? Hot pot was more important!
Squelch! The fire axe pierced the zombie's ear canal. Although the accuracy was off and it missed the intended target, it had still destroyed the brain structure, enough to kill it.
However, Chen Shaoye seemed unaware of this. He pulled out the fire axe and chopped a few more times, smashing Fan Wei's head to pieces.
"Ah! Ah! Ah!" As he chopped, Chen Shaoye let out primal screams. His mind had collapsed, his worldview completely shattered, leaving him disoriented.
Five minutes later.
"Chu, Brother Chu," Chen Shaoye panted, "Can I eat the hot pot now?"
"Eat," Chu Han replied without even looking at him.
Newly awakened zombies were even weaker than normal Tier 1 zombies, so Chen Shaoye had killed it easily. There was nothing to praise about that.
Chu Han looked at Chen Shaoye, who was crying while eating, and felt that his future days wouldn't be easy.
This fatty was just too damn weak!
Why cry over killing a zombie?!
The next morning, before the sun had fully risen, Chu Han slapped Chen Shaoye across the face.
"Get up! You fat pig!"
Startled by the blow, Chen Shaoye's eyes snapped open, the fat on his face jiggling. "What's wrong? What's wrong? Are there zombies?"
"Zombies, my ass!" Chu Han dragged Chen Shaoye out of the car. "Get up and train!"
Now that he had truly accepted this fatty, Chu Han wanted to help Chen Shaoye train. If he was hopeless, so be it, but what if he genuinely had potential in shooting? It would be a shame to have talent but not even be able to handle the recoil of a gun.
As for Chu Han himself, he planned to use devilish training to improve his physical fitness. He had already checked the Reforging System; it was possible for him to reach Tier 1 through exercise. He didn't know when he would complete the task of killing two hundred zombies, and simply crashing through them with the car wasn't the best strategy. There were too many limiting factors, and most importantly, the points were halved, which was not cost-effective.
Chen Shaoye clearly hadn't processed it yet. He looked up at the sunrise, which hadn't even appeared yet, and mumbled, "What time is it?"
Chu Han was already doing push-ups beside him, and he replied casually, "Five in the morning."
"Five in the morning?!" Chen Shaoye yelped. "Why are we up so early? I've only slept for four hours!"
"Three hours of sleep is enough each day." After speaking, Chu Han, covered in sweat, got up and changed his position to exercise his legs. His current physique was too poor; he got tired after just a little while.
In the future, humanity would develop a training system that everyone would follow to enhance their physical fitness, including children aged three to five.
In the apocalypse, strong physical fitness was a standard that every survivor had to meet, not only for fighting zombies but also as a crucial foundation for survival.
No one knew when danger would strike or where it would come from.
The sunrise, tinged with a strange blood-red hue, slowly ascended.
After Chu Han had thoroughly tormented Chen Shaoye for an hour, they drove away to continue their journey. Physical training shouldn't be overdone, or they wouldn't have the strength to run if danger arose. Even so, Chen Shaoye was exhausted, like a dead dog, and ate several rice balls in the car.
Chu Han didn't stop his frantic eating because the food had a short shelf life and would be wasted if not eaten. The food that could be preserved for a long time was hidden in the trunk, and Chen Shaoye wasn't allowed to touch it.
The G55 didn't drive fast on the highway because every so often, they encountered cars askew, surrounded by three to five zombies with blank expressions. They had impossibly wide mouths and shuffled around the road with strange, slow gaits.
Whenever they encountered such zombies, Chu Han would simply drive through them if he could. If the position was truly blocked, he would get out and chop with his axe. It wasn't that he didn't care about the points, but he was in a hurry to find his parents. According to Chu Han's memory, he hadn't seen his parents in ten years.
There was still a long way to Anluo City. There weren't many zombies on the highway now, so Chu Han had to take advantage of the situation to cover as much ground as possible. In a few days, the road might not be so easy to travel. A hundred kilometers might take an entire day.
Even the highway would no longer be safe.
Zombies seemed to have a natural talent for tracking; they would congregate wherever people were. As time went on, many people would give up waiting to die indoors and leave the cities in groups. At that point, there would be many people on the highway, and many zombies as well.
The broken rear window of the car whistled in the wind, causing Chen Shaoye's plump cheeks to tremble.
The highway, not being perfectly flat or wide, prevented Chu Han from driving too fast. He also had to siphon gas from other cars along the way. Thus, three days later.
They arrived at a rest stop, and the G55's fuel tank was once again nearly empty. Chu Han had to stop to refuel the car.
Parking the car, Chu Han gripped his axe and got out, looking around.
