County Chief Jiang Fangfang

Afternoon.

County Party Committee Compound.

After the Letter of Appointment was read aloud, Dong Xuebin had officially taken office.

After welcoming Dong Xuebin at the run-down Small Cafeteria in the compound, Meng Yiguang did not linger. He had his driver take him back. Before leaving, Dong Xuebin saw Meng Yiguang clutching his stomach as if he were feeling unwell. He knew Meng Yiguang must not have eaten properly. The cafeteria food was truly mediocre, with very little meat, all of it the sort of fare cooked in huge pots. Even for Dong Xuebin, who loved meat, the meal had been rather painful. Fortunately, he could make do and took it in stride. He would treat it as an experience of a simple and arduous life. There was no harm in that.

Only after the Zhonghua sedan left did everyone turn back around.

Everyone present was part of the county leadership team, but Dong Xuebin had not yet learned all their names. No one had introduced them to him during the meal, so he still could not match names to faces.

"County Chief Dong." Jiang Fangfang called out to him.

Dong Xuebin immediately looked at her. "County Chief Jiang?"

Jiang Fangfang said blandly, "Let's have a quick meeting. Come to my office."

Dong Xuebin acknowledged her and followed Jiang Fangfang's alluring figure into the Office Building.

The room was very simply furnished. Even the computer had an old CRT monitor.

Dong Xuebin had assumed the office of a county's top leader would be somewhat more impressive, but it turned out to be the same.

"Have a seat." Jiang Fangfang walked over to the thermos, picked up an empty cup, and said, "There's no tea left. Plain boiled water all right?"
