Little Dong Goes Home

That morning.

Dong Xuebin woke up, got out of bed, and yawned as he headed to the living room to brush his teeth and wash up. He was going to wake Teacher Jiang too, but then he noticed that the Master Bedroom door was open.

Huh?

"Teacher Jiang?"

"Teacher Jiang, are you up?"

He called out several times, but got no response.

Dong Xuebin paused, then walked into the Master Bedroom. The bed was empty, the quilt had been neatly folded, and Teacher Jiang's luggage was gone. The room felt completely deserted. Only a note, held down by the desk lamp, lay on the table.

He walked over and saw that it was Teacher Jiang's handwriting.

It read: Teacher is leaving first. Go home early.

Looking helpless, Dong Xuebin hurriedly called her. The call went through.

"Hello, Teacher Jiang, what are you doing?" Dong Xuebin asked.

It was somewhat noisy on the other end. "Hehe, Teacher has gone back to Capital City. I'm on the Long-distance Bus."

"You're already on the bus? Hey, I said I'd take you back. Look at you."

"You already drove Teacher all this way. I knew that if I didn't leave, you'd definitely take me all the way back to Capital City. I was afraid of troubling you too much, so I left by myself. You have things to do when you get back, and Capital City isn't even on your way. How could I keep troubling you? All right, the bus has already left, so there's no use being polite now. Hehe, thank you for these past few days. You took Teacher around everywhere, and I really enjoyed this trip. I haven't felt this carefree in years.
