History
Xue Ye's reign
Emperor Xue Ye ruled from the imperial palace in Heaven Dou City. The family retained substantial military forces and Soul Master guardians, but lacked a reliable Titled Douluo of its own. Xue Ye initially chose not to intervene when a Titled Douluo appeared in a battle at the Heaven Dou Great Spirit Arena; he later sent troops after learning more about Zhou Chen and Purple Micro Palace 118 124.
Succession became a crisis as Xue Ye's second son, Xue Luochuan, and third son, Xue Haicang, died. The apparent eldest son, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, was Qian Renxue impersonating the deceased prince. After an attack on fourth prince Xue Beng, Prince Xue Xing and imperial elder Xue Shan suspected “Xue Qinghe” of involvement in the deaths and moved to protect Xue Beng 70 135 136.
Xue Ye sought an alliance with Zhou Chen, whose Purple Micro Palace had drawn several powerful clans and experts away from the imperial family's orbit. Following Xue Beng's conflict with Zhou Chen, the court paid three million Gold Soul Coins, gifted Zhou Chen an estate and arranged his engagement to Princess Xue Ke. Xue Ye accepted Zhou Chen's condition that Xue Ke would have equal standing with his other wives 147 148 179.
Palace coup and Xue Ke's rule
During Spirit Hall's palace coup, Xue Ye offered Qian Renxue an edict of succession in exchange for sparing Xue Ke. Xue Ke subsequently took the throne, becoming the empire's first queen; Xue Shan, the senior imperial elder, notably withheld his pledge of allegiance at her coronation 365 373.
Under Xue Ke, the imperial family gained more Titled Douluo in its service and led campaigns against Spirit Hall and rival states. Xue Ke later conferred the Star Luo Kingdom's crown on Xu Youyou and proposed her marriage to Zhou Chen as a means of securing influence there 402 460 463.
Inherited Spirit and Forces
- Inherited spirit — Swan: The family's swan spirit is neither notably weak nor strong. Few imperial clansmen had reached the Titled Douluo realm, leaving the family dependent on recruited experts 459.
- Royal Enshrinement Group: Included Xue Shan, Xue Ye's uncle and a level 87 Soul Douluo when introduced. Its members responded to the attack on Xue Beng 124 135.
- Military and palace guards: Marshal Ge Long commanded imperial forces. During an Evil Soul Master assault on the palace, Royal Guards, palace knights and returning City Garrison troops mounted a counterattack 118 213.
- Later strength: After Xue Ke's accession, Xue Shan, Ge Long and the Three Great Education Committee Members were among loyal figures who became Titled Douluo. The family still could not directly command allied sects such as the Clear Sky Sect without their leaders' agreement 402 459.
Relationships
- Purple Micro Palace — Allied through Xue Ke's marriage to Zhou Chen, though Xue Ye remained wary of the palace's growing power 179 299.
- Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect — An allied power; its leaders discussed opening a joint treasury with the empire to obtain Longevity Pills 184 185.
- Spirit Hall — A rival whose agent Qian Renxue infiltrated the succession as Xue Qinghe. Their forces later fought the empire at Jialing Pass before Spirit Hall agreed to surrender 70 401 472.
- Silves Kingdom — A subordinate kingdom whose Prince Hilo's death inside the imperial palace threatened to provoke rebellion. Xue Ye later chose the loyal Silver Moon Family's Zhang Luo Shen as its new ruler 171 251.
