Ronan walked along the bottom of North Mountain Lake.
More precisely, he rode a homemade "bubble" through the Space-Time Structure at the bottom of North Mountain Lake.
What he felt here and now was not the pressure of billions of tons of water, but the containment and rejection of the far broader, grander, and more indescribable Local Time-Space Structure.
Slightly revising Snake Tongue's "old style" analogy:
This temporarily created, mutated "Gear Set" of his wanted to change its original role, gain greater authority within the great machine and Great Production Line created by heaven, earth, and all things, and seize a more important position. Without question, it would have to compete... or compromise with other "Gear Sets" of similar but tighter and sturdier construction.
It was an enormous challenge, and an extremely direct one.
As Ronan "walked" between Space-Time Structures, pressure was everywhere, at every moment. It penetrated the outer layer of the Space-Time Bubble and acted upon the rudimentary Exoskeleton framework. His "Sandwich Domain" dispersed part of it along the way... Even so, he could clearly hear the aberrant bone material, processed and forged through multiple stages, emitting a humming tremor. Occasionally, the sound became hoarse or shrill, a sign of structural damage to the material.
This pressure far exceeded the water pressure at the lakebed.
Yet the "bubble" Ronan had designed still withstood its initial trial, moving in a straight line through the complex environment at the bottom of North Mountain Lake. Neither the surging layers of undercurrents nor the crooked, scattered ruins of the city posed any real obstruction.
Even the sensitive creatures on the lakebed, including Aberrant Species, completely ignored such an obvious target.
Because Ronan was currently walking in another dimension.
In a sense, he was part of this world. Within the established structural system
