It is only because sentient beings falsely cling to having a mind that all afflictions, birth and death, Bodhi, and Nirvana arise. If one realizes there is no mind, then there are no afflictions, birth and death, or Nirvana. Thus, the Tathagata spoke of birth and death for those who possess mind.
