Nature and Authority
Sovereigns stand above ordinary gods and Grand Perfection High-Gods in the world's hierarchy. Grand Perfections are described as exceptionally powerful “pawns,” while Sovereigns are the figures who determine the wider balance of power. 76
Most Sovereigns became Sovereigns near the beginning of creation and have existed long enough to lose interest in ordinary affairs. Some create contests or dangerous realms for entertainment, watching gods compete over resources such as Sovereign Power and rare treasures. 45
- Sovereigns can create divine planes by activating the laws contained within their Sovereign Sparks. The Seven Divine Planes were jointly created by seven Sovereigns of the same element. 82
- Divine-plane creation provides insight into the relevant laws; combined with Faith Power, it allows Sovereigns to fuse at least five Profound Mysteries. 82
- Sovereigns can travel hundreds of millions of miles almost instantly through the Willpower contained in their Sovereign Sparks. 125
- A Sovereign's true body cannot descend into a Material Plane. They may instead act through projections or energy clones, which are far weaker and lack the true body's Willpower. 84 90
- Sovereigns ordinarily detect one another through Main Spiritual Sense, making stealth attacks between them difficult. 128
Sovereign Spark and Ascension
A Sovereign is created when a deity refines a Sovereign Spark, also called a Main Godhead. The refiner's blood is absorbed by the crystal, after which immense elemental Sovereign Power manifests and the Spark merges into their body. 120 129
| Subject | Documented function |
|---|---|
| Sovereign Spark / Main Godhead | Grants Sovereign status, Willpower, access to Sovereign Power, and the ability to create a divine plane. 82 120 |
| High-level Main Godhead | Holds vastly greater Willpower than lower-ranked Sparks; Kania's High-level Destruction Spark alone was stated to be at least a hundred times stronger than the Willpower of several lower Sovereigns. 125 |
| Fallen Spark | A Sovereign's Spark can remain after their death and be claimed by another being. Mode's Dark Element High Lord Godhead remained after his body was destroyed in Space Turbulence. 76 |
| Refinement | Refining multiple compatible Main Godheads can create multiple Sovereign clones and allow fused Sovereign Power. 129 |
Known Rank Structure
| Rank / Position | Notes |
|---|---|
| Rule Sovereign | The four Rule Sovereigns possess compatible Supreme Divine Artifacts and are regarded as the most powerful conventional Sovereigns. 82 |
| High-level Sovereign | A Sovereign formed from a High-level Main Godhead; its Spark carries dramatically superior Willpower. 120 125 |
| Mid-level Sovereign | Intermediate rank among the elemental Sovereigns. 92 |
| Low-level Sovereign | Lower rank among the elemental Sovereigns; some serve stronger Sovereigns of other elements or Rules. 92 |
Abilities & Resources
Sovereign Power
Sovereign Power is formed from soul power and divine power. When used by a High-God, it enhances body, soul, attack, and defense together rather than improving only one attribute. 39
- A High-God using Sovereign Power of their own element may receive an increase of hundreds of times. 39
- Even mismatched elemental Sovereign Power can provide roughly a hundredfold increase. 39
- Sovereigns can bestow large quantities of elemental Sovereign Power to emissaries and allies. 67 76
- Paragons can use Willpower to control Sovereign Power precisely, including directing it to strengthen the body instead of letting it rapidly dissipate. 68
Willpower
Willpower is an inherent advantage of a Sovereign Spark and is central to Sovereign-level combat, authority, and movement. 82 125
- It reinforces Sovereign Power and allows its bearer to exert overwhelming pressure on lesser gods. 125
- It enables Sovereigns to create planes and gain insight during their formation. 82
- A Sovereign's voice, infused with Willpower, can stun even Seven-star Demons. 125
- A Paragon's Spiritual Sense may cover all of Nether Mountain yet still fail to locate a Sovereign. 66
Sovereign Artifacts
Sovereign Artifacts are weapons or defensive items empowered through prolonged nurturing with Willpower and Lord God Power. 94
- Types include material attack, material defense, and soul defense artifacts. 67 115
- A material-defense Sovereign Artifact can allow its bearer to withstand attacks that would otherwise be fatal. 55
- Supreme Divine Artifacts are superior treasures; a compatible one can increase a Sovereign's attack amplification by a hundredfold. 100
- Sovereign Artifacts cannot normally be bestowed freely on ordinary gods; they are tied to the formal office of Sovereign's Emissary. 45 76
Sovereign's Emissaries
Sovereign's Emissaries are gods formally appointed to act beneath a Sovereign. Appointment normally includes the bestowal of a Sovereign Artifact. 67 115
| Sovereign rank | Standard number of Emissaries |
|---|---|
| Chief Sovereign | 8 123 |
| Mid-level Sovereign | 4 123 |
| Low-level Sovereign | 2 123 |
- Emissaries may receive Sovereign Power in addition to an artifact. 67 123
- The role can be granted in exchange for service, specialized knowledge, or allegiance. Lynn became the Death Sovereign's envoy in return for her help locating and restoring his family's undead forms. 67
- An emissary's Main God Token identifies them as a person closely connected to a Sovereign and discourages other gods from provoking them. 70 124
Restrictions and Agreements
- Sovereigns are barred from directly entering Material Planes with their true bodies. This permits Paragons to become effectively invincible within such planes unless opposed by another Paragon. 84
- Agreements among Sovereigns limit the casual bestowal of Sovereign Artifacts and regulate the number of official emissaries. 45 123
- Rule Sovereigns are not meant to attack Law Sovereigns who have not provoked them. 100
- Sovereigns may reclaim Lord Artifacts they bestowed after the death of the artifact's holder. 59
