Nearly 1.8 million words. This Battle Through the Heavens fanfic was probably the longest novel this old-timer had ever written. I had no idea how I managed to pad it out that much, but before I knew it, I'd written so much.
When I reached 1.5 million words, I was still really conflicted. Why did the ending feel farther and farther away the more I wrote? Based on my estimates at the time, if I kept padding it out, the book could easily surpass two million words by the time it ended. If I got bolder, three million words even seemed possible. And if I expanded it further to include the Great Thousand World setting—good grief, it would never end.
But even now, I'd still skipped quite a bit of content. Sigh, I didn't write the Heavenly Tomb, and I didn't write the ascension to Emperor. If I counted it all properly, a complete ending would have needed two million words, but this old-timer really couldn't keep writing.
When I started this book, I'd actually planned to scrape by on welfare. I just hadn't expected its results to rise above a thousand, even reaching fifteen hundred at its best. I'd originally written this book to train myself in the traditional monster-slaying, level-up system, but I never expected to write this much.
As for why I stopped updating for a month recently, the reason was actually very simple. I spent the month driving around Sichuan for a trip. As for who I went with, I don't know. Anyway, this old-timer will write even more diligently, work hard, and earn money through honest labor.
There was a saying: people could be trapped for a lifetime by the things they could not obtain in their youth. This old-timer was pretty lucky not to
