- Demon Suppressing Divisions in multiple dynasties were created because of pressure from the Demon Hunter Organization; one of their purposes is to support Demon Hunters within their respective territories 180.

Combat Camp hierarchy
| Level | Known details |
|---|---|
| Commander | The Su City Commander stands above the three Grand Commanders; Long Jianying held this position before his disappearance 77 128 |
| Grand Commanders | The Combat Camp has three senior commanders. The First Commander is strict and rule-bound; the Second Commander values ability and martial chivalry; the Grand Commander is described as domineering 50 51 |
| Demon Suppressing Generals | Eight generals serve beneath the senior commanders 50 |
| Demon Suppressing Captains | Dozens of captains lead personnel and squads 50 |
| Purple / Gold / Silver / Red / Black Clothed Demon Suppressors | The five robe ranks, with Black Clothed Demon Suppressors at the bottom; Red Clothed members ordinarily lead Black Clothed members on missions 50 |
- Robe rank is determined by merit rather than cultivation; a member can rise quickly by participating in difficult missions under a powerful superior 54.
- A standard squad contains ten people. Its captain must be at least Gold Clothed, while its vice-captain must be at least Silver Clothed 55.

Recruitment and Service
- The Division recruits both established martial artists and promising young candidates. Most members are raised through the preparatory camp rather than recruited from outside 50.
- Candidates undergo background scrutiny and receive an assessment mission before becoming formal members 16.
- New recruits register for waist tokens, uniforms, living quarters, and initial Qi Gathering Pills; mission warhorses are supplied by the Division when needed 51.
- Members may select a commander's faction. Wei Fan, Ning Xuan, and Su Xuerong entered the Second Commander's ranks because its martial-world background and looser rules suited them 51.
- Duty work, patrols, and guard assignments are routine. Patrol and guard deployments can keep squads away for seven or eight days at a time and involve sustained exposure to danger 65.
- Mission targets are ordinarily kept confidential to prevent retaliation against deployed Demon Suppressors; the Bamboo Sea County leak demonstrated that internal personnel could still compromise this system 70.
Merit, Resources, and Facilities
- Members receive basic subsidies and merit for completed missions. Merits can be exchanged for martial arts manuals, cultivation resources, elixirs, weapons, and higher-quality equipment 50 51.
- The Merit Hall issues rewards and records accomplishments. Better weapons are not standard issue and must generally be exchanged with merit 51 60.
- The Su City Division's collection includes Divine Realm martial arts, but its local archive contains only about twenty such inheritances. Copies of collected methods are also sent to headquarters, whose collection is far broader 124.
- The Division's Spirit Gathering Space can open once every three years, giving it an advantage over many sectarian equivalents 91.
- The Su City headquarters occupies a vast compound with relatively few visible personnel, including separate residential and combat areas 51.
- Its great prison is located outside Su City and holds major criminals and Great Demons; its location is not disclosed to ordinary people 97.
Internal Politics and Constraints
- The Division is not politically unified. Factions compete for talented personnel, and some members or associated forces have colluded with demons and monsters 61 70.
- Although its authority is extensive, the Division is formally bound by procedure; falsely invoking its name to settle personal grievances can bring serious consequences 84.
- Unlike many sects, it does not extract a member's soul merely to retain them. A Demon Suppressing Guard who no longer wishes to serve may become a Demon Hunter instead 93.
- During the Su City crisis, Third Commander Fu Shizheng's betrayal, the Grand Commander's death, and Long Jianying's absence left the local branch severely destabilized 128 154.
- Headquarters later attempted to remove Wei Fan and Long Xueyi from their acting commander positions without providing reinforcements, provoking open resentment from Su City's leadership 154.
History
Yun City recruitment
The Division remained unseen in Yun City for many years, yet demons and monsters around the city were kept in check. Wei Fan's destruction of Black Wind Stronghold served as his assessment mission, after which he left the yamen to join the Division 48.
Wei Fan, Ning Xuan, and Su Xuerong subsequently registered in Su City's Combat Camp under the Second Commander, while Hu Qing entered the preparatory camp 51.
Su City operations
The Su City branch investigated and punished collusion with demons among local clans, including the Wei Family, Han Family, and Piaoyu Sect 63 70 79. It also mobilized against the Divine Blade Sect after the sect refused to surrender its sect-protecting demon beast 92 93.
Following Fu Shizheng's betrayal and the Qingyun City crisis, Huo Tianzheng became acting Commander. He temporarily appointed Wei Fan and Long Xueyi as commanders to maintain order in Su City 128 138.
Under their command, the Division compelled Silver Moon Valley, Qingfeng Sword Sect, and Tianmen Mountain to relocate or face destruction for refusing to assist during the demon breach. After the three sects were defeated, Su City's remaining sects began offering more disciples for anti-demon service 142 146.
Expansion beyond Su City
Wei Fan later transferred the former Extreme Martial Sect site to the Zhao Kingdom's Demon Suppressing Division so it could cultivate Demon Suppressing Guards, rather than allowing the sect's resources to be wasted or privately seized 248 249.
