The Demon Suppression Division is Great Zhou’s violent arm against demons, ghosts, freaks, and the martial world. It also suppresses Outer Domain Sects operating within Great Zhou territory. 256 335

- Its personnel hold authority above ordinary officials; even the lowest-ranking Demon Slaying Guards are treated as being a rank higher than common government officials. 292

- Its branches are established across Great Zhou’s commanderies. They answer to headquarters while retaining relative operational independence. 75
- The Division’s external military arm, the Demon Suppression Army, conducts campaigns against sects and is feared by Outer Domain powers. 476

- Identity Tokens record a member’s rank and grant corresponding privileges, including access to intelligence resources. 207

History
The Great Ancestor of Great Zhou established the Demon Suppression Division as a system separate from the Imperial Court. At its height, it used the Demon Suppression Army to crush sect forces and drive many Outer Domain Sects beyond Great Zhou’s borders. 548 476
Over time, both Great Zhou and the Division declined. Outer Domain Sects returned to Great Zhou territory, while aristocratic families, imperial factions, and hostile sects infiltrated or influenced local branches. 335 420 549
During the Dafeng Prefecture campaign, the Division assembled reinforcements from Beihai and other commanderies for a major purge of the White Lotus Sect and Eternal Life Alliance. The operation promised Contribution Points and limited Spirit Pool access, reflecting the expected scale and danger of the conflict. 235
After the Hongyuan County battle weakened both hostile factions, the Dafeng branch used Heavenly Machine Tower intelligence to launch a prefecture-wide offensive, destroying their strongholds and associated forces. 332
Later, the Imperial Capital branch supported an operation against the Eternal Life Alliance, which had remained at the top of the Division’s internal purge list despite years of suppression. 617 623
Internal Politics and Corruption
Despite its merit-based reputation, the Division is vulnerable to factional influence.
- The Ji Family extended influence into the Beihai branch, prompting Liu Chengfeng to expel Ji Tao after he attacked Lin Changqing without evidence. 187
- Wang Tianlin, Deputy Division Head of Dafeng Prefecture, suppressed Lin Changqing’s promotion to Demon Slaying Envoy by altering or manipulating selection procedures. 334 376
- Prince Jin’s Estate infiltrated elements of the Yunzhou branch through figures such as Li Chengfeng and Wu Shanhai. 417 420
- The Division’s senior leadership includes competing interests; during the Yunzhou conflict, at least three internal factions were apparent: Prince Jin’s infiltrators, Wu Wudi’s opposition, and a larger neutral bloc. 420
- According to Xing Shan, the Great Zhou Emperor gradually infiltrated the Division while attempting to weaken both it and the aristocratic clans. 549
