Physical Description

Tang Zheng is a young man of average height and lean build, with an overall impression that is gentle and unassuming. His dark brown eyes are alert and often concealed beneath a controlled, expressionless demeanor. He keeps his hair naturally dark and short, though after spending over a month in the Great Forest of Tob it grew out significantly; he opted to only trim it slightly rather than cut it short again, giving him a slightly longer, neat style 94. His typical attire is a carefully designed two-layer outfit: a black, form-fitting base layer that allows for quick, unimpeded movement, covered by a pure white priest-style robe with a tapered waist and shortened length to avoid being overly baggy. The robe’s wide cuffs are intentionally oversized, swallowing his hands when his arms hang naturally, which he uses to conceal item retrieval and scroll use 94. A hidden clasp at each shoulder allows him to pull the cuffs up and fasten them when he needs to expose his arms 94. He commissioned four identical sets of this outfit from tailor Old Will, each costing 6 gold coins, and is often seen wearing the white priest robe over the black base layer 94. On occasion, after prolonged combat or research, his appearance becomes disheveled—his hair messy and his robe stained with blood and grime 347. His overall carriage is quiet and unobtrusive, blending easily into crowds.

  • Hair: Dark, short, and neatly trimmed; grown out slightly from its original short length, not cut extremely short 94.
  • Eyes: Dark brown, often carrying a sharp or thoughtful glint, but kept expressionless 3 94.
  • Body Build: Lean and athletic, inferred from the form-fitting base layer and his need for quick, unimpeded movement; no extreme muscularity or height noted 94.
  • Typical Attire: A black, form-fitting base layer underneath a white priest-style robe with a tapered waist, shortened hem, and wide cuffs that cover the hands; a hidden clasp at the shoulders allows the cuffs to be fastened up. The robe is designed to conceal his identity as a Faith-based magic caster while the base layer ensures mobility. He owns four such sets, all custom-made by Old Will in E-Rantel 94.

Personality

Tang Zheng is a calculating, pragmatic figure whose personality balances strategic foresight with ruthless efficiency. He thinks several steps ahead, deliberately choosing low‑risk experiments—such as sacrificing Ninja levels instead of higher classes—to preserve valuable skills while gaining vital knowledge 268. This caution extends to his public conduct: he avoids drawing attention, yet when the situation demands it, he displays overwhelming force without hesitation, commanding instant obedience from enemies and subordinates alike 8 271. His composure is notable; he remains calm after his first kills and shows no remorse when dispatching defeated adventurers, viewing them as obstacles to be removed or resources to be harvested 28 231 141. Ruthlessness is a tool he wields deliberately—ordering the Earth Element Troll to cut off its own tongue or silencing a whole tribe of trolls—but it is never gratuitous, always serving a clear purpose 271 141. He adapts quickly, developing his own combat techniques (e.g., Fourfold Slash of Light: Break) and modifying his strategies based on environment and opponent 141 40. Equally important is his thoroughness: he spends days familiarizing himself with new attributes and abilities before relying on them, and he systematically exploits available resources—whether troll labor, monster blood, or crafting time—to accelerate his growth 268 140 147. Underlying all of this is a driven determination to reach high levels within the three‑year limit, a goal that shapes his long‑term planning and his willingness to make hard choices 339 268.

  • Cautious experimentation – Tests the effects of class loss on low‑level classes (Ninja) before risking more valuable ones, and uses controlled conditions (e.g., throwing a Sun Anglerfish scale) to evaluate unknown skills. 268
  • Low-profile demeanor – Deliberately avoids provoking nobles or drawing public attention; when caught off‑guard by a sudden change, he mimics the actions of those around him to stay inconspicuous. 8 35
  • Ruthless pragmatism – Kills defeated adventurers without hesitation, orders subordinates to mutilate or execute enemies, and shows zero regret for the lives he takes; violence is a calculated tool for asserting dominance and eliminating threats. 231 271 141
  • Systematic resource exploitation – Uses Troll Gu and his horde for manual labor and as a sparring partner, collects blood from subordinates for research, and extracts venom sacs from slain beasts for potential future use. 140 147 35
  • Self‑taught innovation – Develops the “Fourfold Slash of Light: Break” technique through repeated practice, and experiments with Totem Possession to understand its mechanics and limitations. 141 140
  • Calm analytical mindset – Assesses his own strength against benchmarks (e.g., Silver Rank adventurers), identifies enemy weaknesses during combat (e.g., the Black‑Green Serpent’s slippery scales), and rests only when he judges recovery sufficient. 32 35
  • Long‑term strategic planning – Plans experience‑farming projects months in advance (Goblin farming, Abelion Hills control), calculates the time needed to reach level 100, and sacrifices short‑term gains for better understanding of class mechanics. 339 268
  • Dominant command style – Issues orders to powerful subordinates (White Mist Witch, Go Gin) without negotiation, expects blind obedience, and uses fear to maintain control (e.g., making an example of the Earth Element Troll). 271 147

Abilities and Powers

Classes

Tang Zheng’s class system is the cornerstone of his power, built upon the unique [Genius] basic class. [Genius] functions as a foundational converter, allowing him to treat the levels of various converted basic classes (such as Warrior, Mage, Thief, etc.) as cumulatively contributing to his Spellcaster level, enabling him to reach higher magic tiers far more quickly than a conventional build 54. This class also calculates class level based on the sum of converted class levels, which allowed him to discover hidden abilities like upgrading spells beyond their expected tier 29 54. The rest of his classes serve specific purposes: the three Dragon classes are tied to the “Wild Magic” system; the pair [Cursed Knight] × [Valkyrie] forms a linked build; and [Mad Mage] × [Magic Transcender] provides key offensive and transcendent capabilities 426.

  • [Genius] is the foundation, enabling the accumulation of Spellcaster levels from multiple basic class conversions 54.
  • The [Cursed Knight] class at its maximum (5Lv) grants curse-based attacks that incorporate an Instant Death Curse ability, and its “Dark Wave” skill provides burst combat power that punches above weight class 138.
  • The [Valkyrie] class grants job skills such as “Clean Throwing Spear” (a guaranteed-hit holy-attribute ranged attack usable 3/day) 138.
  • The special class [Magic Transcender] features six passives including “Magic Master” (heightened magical understanding), “Super Magic Master” (all variable numerical effects maximized), “Mana’s Blessing” (faster out-of-combat mana recovery), and “Element’s Blessing” (stronger destruction from elemental magic) 266 267.
  • [Mad Mage] and [Magic Swordsman] can be combined to use physical attacks of the four elements 345.
  • High-tier classes [Lord of Holiness] and [Lord of Corruption] grant the ability to wield both holy and negative attributes simultaneously, along with passives like “Complete Resistance to Movement Impairment” and area-of-effect control skills 345.
  • Tang Zheng also acquired the [Summoner] basic class through mastering “Elemental Summoning,” which strengthens the summoning system but cannot benefit from the [Genius] trait 164.
  • The [Shaman Mentor] intermediate job provides “Totem Possession,” offering two distinct combat styles: Physical Enhancement and Specialty Acquisition 134.
  • The [Spear Master] intermediate class is required to learn the “Spear Formation Defense” skill, a defensive spear formation 443.
  • The [Thunder-Striking Dragon Fist User] is a special class within the Monk system, enabling skills like “Final Style: Thunder Dragon Star Stream” 531.
  • Limitations: The [Genius] trait cannot apply to the Summoner class’s summons, so its strengthening effect is not available 164. The [Magic Swordsman] class provides meager gains compared to special classes, making it less prioritized 148. Class conflicts exist, such as [Eclipse] being incompatible with living beings (undead restriction) 426. Skill conflicts can occur, e.g., between “Summon Undead” and “Summon Angel,” though no conflict exists between [Lord of Holiness] and [Lord of Corruption] since both derive from the [Holy Knight] base 345.

Magic

Tang Zheng’s magical repertoire is vast and versatile, encompassing multiple systems and tiers. He can cast spells up to at least 6th tier, and his unique class combinations allow him to convert elemental magic into four attributes, enabling multifaceted applications. Composite elemental magic—such as summoning a Wetland Elemental Spirit (water + earth)—is a rare form he mastered from the Lizardman Crusch Lulu 164. He has also developed passive composite magic, combining “Dragon Flame” and “Dragon Wind” (both 5th tier) with devastating effect 174. His [Magic Transcender] class maximizes all variable numerical effects in magic, making his spells always hit for maximum damage.

  • Tang Zheng can upgrade Tier 0 utility spells like “Paper Making” and “Warming” to higher tiers; “Warming” at Tier 4 reaches 1200°C, enough to melt steel 29 54.
  • He possesses 5th tier spells such as “Dragon Flame,” “Dragon Wind,” and “Dragon Lightning,” and 6th tier spells like “Pale Fire” (area-of-effect with fire and negative energy, convertible to four attributes) 174 302.
  • Through [Mad Mage] and [Magic Swordsman] combination, he can launch physical attacks of four elements 345.
  • He also wields composite elemental magic: summoning Wetland Elemental Spirits, and has mastered the “Summon Composite Elemental” spell 164.
  • The “Sand Field” ability can be converted into four elements, providing various control effects 302.
  • “Greater Teleportation” is used for evasion, though it can be delayed; “Translocation Damage” allows converting damage into mana loss 487.
  • “Unilateral Duel” prevents an opponent from using Teleportation to escape 302.
  • Limitations: Mana management is critical; Tang Zheng aims to end battles quickly to conserve mana 173. His mana pool of 523 points recovers fully in less than nine hours 268. The “Decaying Bone Prison” binding spell is considered less useful compared to the “Sand Field” 302. Some spells require specific class prerequisites—e.g., “Decaying Bone Prison” is a binding-type spell that he considers redundant 302.

Martial Arts and Innate Abilities

Tang Zheng has learned several Martial Arts, a distinct New World system separate from class skills. He acquired “Mind’s Eye” from Zaryusu Shasha, a Martial Art that enhances perception and can be combined with “Brain’s Field” for advanced sensory capabilities 164. He also possesses the innate talent [Player], which grants base attributes of 13 points each in the New World—surpassing the average person—and provides the ability to sense mana as a Magic Caster talent 2. Additionally, his [Genius] class’s hidden abilities include the accumulation of Spellcaster levels, allowing him to unlock higher-tier magic more quickly 54.

  • “Mind’s Eye” is a Martial Art that sharpens perception, useful for tracking invisible enemies 164 174.
  • The “Stealth” skill unlocked the Basic Thief class, and he also possesses “Tracking” 29 62.
  • “Instant Reflex” and “Fourfold Slash of Light” are active skills from the Warrior system 8.
  • “Degraded Body Armament” is a unique New World skill obtained via “Perk Selection” from Hamsuke’s totem; it turns the body into a suit of armor at the cost of 10% HP per use, and can be localized (but less cost-effective) 147.
  • “Totem Possession” from the Shaman system provides Physical Enhancement or Specialty Acquisition—the latter granting abilities from beasts or monsters 134.
  • “Stealth Aura Mastery” (Ninja passive) can mask his presence 483.
  • Limitations: Martial Arts are distinct from class skills; they cannot be used as class skills and vice versa 8 164. “Degraded Body Armor” incurs a 10% HP cost per activation 147. The “Mind’s Eye” requires combination with “Brain’s Field” for maximum utility 164. Tang Zheng’s overall level progression is constrained by experience points, and he must carefully allocate skill points 267 268.

Equipment and Items

Item Name Type Description
Magic Greatsword Weapon (Greatsword) A cracked greatsword obtained from Troll Gu. Its durability is depleted to the point of being nearly unusable, but Tang Zheng used it in combat until he acquired a better weapon. 342 392
Orb of Death Magic Item / Special Artifact A high-tier (Lv 30–40) black stone artifact. Originally had four passive traits and four active magic skills, but after Tang Zheng’s modifications, it was reduced to a single passive (Negative Energy Absorption) and a single active (Summon Bone Dragon, cost 100 energy). Its energy gauge dropped from 300 to 280. 84 106
White Dragon Bone Armor "Lion Heart" Armor (Bone Armor) A suit of armor forged from Frost Dragon bones, a treasure of the Lizardmen. It provides both physical and magical defense, capable of blocking magic arrows. Restricted to Lizard-type races; Tang Zheng could not use it directly and later absorbed it via his Blessing of Abundance to upgrade his Body Armament. 162 164 220
Paladin Armor (Divine Class) Armor (Divine Class) A full set of pure white and gold armor from the Wind God’s legacy, featuring a golden cross-star pattern, Mithril inlays, and wing modules for flight. It grants extraordinary defensive power and is classified as Divine Class (81–90 Lv). Certain Death’s own survival against Mare’s magic was attributed to this armor. 426
Golden-Hilted Greatsword (Legendary Class) Weapon (Greatsword) A greatsword with a golden hilt, part of the Wind God’s legacy. Appraised as Legendary Class (71–80 Lv). 426
Kite Shield with Golden Lace (Legendary Class) Shield A large Kite Shield decorated with golden lace, also from the Wind God’s legacy, classified as Legendary Class. 426

God of Death’s Scythe-Staff Weapon (Magic Staff) A reaper’s scythe-shaped staff, primarily black with silver striped patterns. Despite its warrior-like appearance, it is actually a cosplay-style magic staff from YGGDRASIL, not the true main weapon of the God of Death player. 361
Guild Weapon: Twelve Labors Proverbs Weapon (Guild Weapon, Lv 91–100) A longsword with a translucent, shadow-thin blade covered in glass-like cracks. The hilt is woven from dark gold, deep green, silver-white, bronze, and black metals, depicting monsters (giant lion, hydra, wild boar, etc.) that occasionally vibrate. Extremely sharp and size-adjustable; Tang Zheng wrapped it in a Magic Tree leaf to store it. 506
Frost Pain Weapon (Race-Exclusive) A Lizardman treasure that appears as a cold-white blade. Provides +52 Physical Attack, passive cold-air damage, and an active “Icy Burst” (3/day) that releases freezing air. Plot Involvement

  • Tang Zheng first entered the Great Forest of Tob to level up, hunting Goblins and magical beasts in the outer regions. He quickly adapted to the harsh environment, using his swordsmanship and magic to eliminate threats while gathering materials 29 30 35 40. During this period, he encountered and fought multiple Trolls, demonstrating strategic thinking by using the forest terrain to his advantage against coordinated Troll attacks 42 46. He also discovered the utility of the "Forest Traverse" magical item, which drastically improved his mobility and hunting efficiency within the jungle 50.

  • After leaving the Royal City, Tang Zheng returned to the Great Forest of Tob with the explicit goal of luring out the Wise King of the Forest, Hamsuke. He used summoned Trolls to create disturbances and provoke Hamsuke, aiming to obtain its unique magic and gain experience. This led to a direct confrontation with Hamsuke, where Tang Zheng used a Mana Slash to initiate combat 135 144. During his stay, he also captured and subdued the Demon Snake of the West, Lularus, using Curse Power, and forged a partnership: Tang Zheng would help Lularus become ruler of the forest in exchange for assistance in raising goblins 144.

  • Tang Zheng spent an extended period leveling up in the forest, using Troll Gu to gather high-level beasts and monsters, gaining approximately 74,000 experience points in half a month. He also developed a new combat technique, "Fourfold Slash of Light: Break," and obtained a Magic Greatsword from Troll Gu 138 140 141. During this time, the Little Barghest grew significantly in size and strength due to abundant food and alchemical potions 140 148.

  • Leaving the Great Forest of Tob, Tang Zheng headed north into the Great Swamp, encountering unknown monsters and collecting alchemical materials. He invaded the Lizardman Small Tooth Tribe, using Mass Charm on the Hunting Chief and summoned creatures to cause chaos, ultimately defeating the Lizardman Warriors and capturing the tribe's Priest 148 149 151.

  • Later, Tang Zheng became aware of the chaos in the Great Forest of Tob caused by an unknown plant-type monster (the "Magic Tree"), which was suspected to be Zurrernorn's retaliation against the Kingdom. Tang Zheng remained calm, planning to use the situation to his advantage while communicating secretly with Enri during a meeting in E-Rantel 429. He also killed the Barghest and the Minister of Forging to transport them via Teleportation, demonstrating his willingness to make sacrifices for his goals 208.
