Background / History

Xiao Wu first appears at Nuo Ding Junior Academy as Tang San's sworn little sister and the assertive “Sister Xiao Wu” whom Xiao Chenyu's group calls for help. She confronts Madara to protect Xiao Chenyu, using her rabbit martial soul, powerful leaps, and scorpion braid in close combat. Tang San stops the fight before either Xiao Wu or Madara is hurt. 12 13

She remains close to Tang San throughout their time at Shrek Academy. During the Titan Giant Ape incident, Madara attacks the beast when it reaches toward Xiao Wu, while she watches in shock. Xiao Wu later cooperates with Madara in concealing the full circumstances of their encounter with the Titan Giant Ape. 75 79

After reaching the four-ring Soul Ancestor realm, Xiao Wu accompanies Madara to hunt for her fourth spirit ring. Rather than hunt a Spirit Beast, she creates a ring herself while using a beast tide as a distraction. Madara exposes the deception, but Xiao Wu's attempt to save him convinces him not to force information from her through illusion. She then admits that she is not human; the Lovesick Heartbreak Red reveals her Spirit Beast aura, and Madara recognizes her rabbit form. 220

At the Continental Elite Soul Master Competition's award ceremony, Xiao Wu recognizes the aura of the soul bones displayed by Bibi Dong and concludes that Spirit Hall killed her mother. Overcome by hatred, she attacks Bibi Dong and is exposed as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. Spirit Hall orders her capture, prompting Tang San, Madara, Dugu Bo, and the other Shrek students to defend her. 231 232

After her rescue, Tang Hao tells Xiao Wu that Tang San cannot yet protect her and that she must leave. She accepts this judgment and enters the depths of the Star Dou Great Forest with Mumu, whom Madara entrusts to her care. 234

Years later, Xiao Wu acts as Mumu's guardian in the forest. When Spirit Hall surrounds her, Tang San, and Mumu, she prioritizes Mumu's survival: she teleports him to safety and sacrifices herself so that Tang San may live. 270 297

Her bond with Tang San defines many of her decisions. She becomes jealous and insecure when Huo Wu visits Shrek to seek Madara's guidance, refuses to abandon Tang San during Chrysanthemum Douluo's attack, and resolves to die rather than let Tang San trade his life for hers. 201 212 214
