Background / History

The Immortal Realm is divided into nine Immortal Domains and serves as the higher plane reached by cultivators who ascend from the Human Realm. Each domain has an ascension border guarded by Ascension Immortal Gates, which open when a lower-realm cultivator ascends. 6 176

Its recorded history is marked by recurring conflicts among the Six Realms. Tianshu Xiu's research found that major inter-realm conflicts occurred roughly every tens of thousands of years, with the Divine Realm intervening only after fighting had begun to subside. 412

More than a century before the main events, Ning Yechen—then known to the Immortal Realm as Ye Mochen—led the Demon Realm in the Third War of Immortals and Demons. Dozens of Immortal Emperors could not defeat him, and more than half of the realm was nearly torn apart before he withdrew. 6 The Divine Realm had intervened to prevent the Immortal Realm's destruction, though the public largely believed the Immortal Realm had repelled the Demon Lord on its own. 236 241

Ning Yechen returned after more than a century, shattered an Ascension Immortal Gate, and damaged nearly half of the Heavenly Dao Imperial Palace. The realm's leading powers complied with his demand to investigate Luo Ruying's background rather than risk another conflict. 6 8 28

Spiritual Environment

The Immortal Realm's spiritual energy is far denser than that of the Human Realm, allowing rare Immortal Herbs and Spiritual Medicine to flourish. 10

Its residents include Immortal Clan cultivators, immortal beasts, and powerful sects and families. Cultivators can reach stages from the Immortal Realm through Absolute Immortal, with Immortal Emperors, Immortal Venerables, and Celestial Emperors among the realm's notable powers. 1 213

Heavenly Dao Restrictions

The realm's Heavenly Dao laws enforce order and can punish actions that violate a realm's limits or oaths. In the Human Realm, for example, displaying power beyond that realm's capacity draws Celestial Lightning. 27 484

Chaos erosion can weaken or assimilate these laws, leaving the realm unable to restore damaged voids or protect its inhabitants properly. 494

• Heavenly Dao Imperial Palace — One of the Immortal Realm's nine peak forces. It was attacked by Ning Yechen during both the previous war and his later return. 6 7

Immortal Realm Trial

The Immortal Realm Trial is an ancient secret realm entered through a key-created passage. It normally opens once every hundred years, and qualifications to enter are fiercely sought by the realm's sects and families. 267 279 283

Conflicts with the Demon Realm

Ning Yechen's Return

Ning Yechen's reappearance caused immediate panic among the realm's leading forces. Heavenly Dao Changrong, despite reaching the Immortal Emperor Realm, was defeated with a single move; Tiandao Wentian instead punished Changrong and sought to avoid provoking Ning Yechen. 7 8

In Southern Ying, Penglai Fusheng disclosed the location of the Ancient Immortal Spirit Tree rather than risk catastrophe for the entire domain. 128

Daoist Immortal Family Retribution

After the Daoist Immortal Family pursued Luo Ruying and Luo Hongye, Ning Yechen led the Demon Realm army into the Immortal Realm. The Heavenly Gate Bell sounded across all nine domains, while numerous sects closed themselves off rather than resist. 235 237

Ning Yechen destroyed the Daoist Immortal Family's Sect Protecting Immortal Array and eliminated its members. The Judgment Divine Hall was later partially destroyed, and the Immortal Ancestors chose not to intervene against him. 239 243 247

Invasion of the Demon Realm

Immortal Realm sects and armies later joined an invasion of the Demon Realm. The Heavenly Dao Imperial Palace and several major families hesitated in the void rifts, fearing Ning Yechen's retaliation. 438

The invading forces were decisively defeated. Tens of thousands of Immortal Realm cultivators were killed or captured, while celestial ships, immortal vessels, and immortal beasts were destroyed. 470

Chaos Invasion and Conquest

Chaos later breached the realm through void rifts, eroding its lands, destroying immortal palaces, and corrupting its Heavenly Dao laws. Tianshu Xiu and other Celestial Emperors maintained barriers and temporarily sealed a rift, but the realm could not withstand the endless Chaos Beasts alone. 494 495

As evacuation became necessary, the Demon Realm army arrived and declared the Immortal Realm to be Ning Yechen's possession before attacking the Chaos forces. 496 Ning Yechen subsequently announced that he had conquered the realm, appointing Goddess Luo Hall among the successor principal elders of the Judgment Divine Hall. 503

Administration Under the Demon Lord

Following its conquest, the realm retained Tianshu Xiu as its administrator. He consulted Yue Qingyou on Demon Realm laws, received a copy of those laws, and was instructed to erect statues of Ning Yechen throughout the realm. 550

The realm's former political order therefore continued under Demon Realm oversight, with its institutions expected to follow the Demon Lord's authority. 503 550
