Background / History

Rao Mingxian attended Fifty-ninth Middle School, where his grandfather Rao Fuxing served as principal. Because of this connection, classmates called him the “Crown Prince,” though he was not known for abusing the family’s influence. He and Zhou Leng were acquaintances rather than close friends, having played demonic basketball together and exchanged only occasional words. His academics were poor, but his martial arts and physical-test results later rose as high as ninth in the school. 10

His childhood was marked by Rao Fuxing’s violent treatment. Rao described having food smashed over his head, being kicked across rooms, and being routinely humiliated for supposedly disgracing the family. He was also mocked by classmates who knew of the abuse. 229

Rao Mingxian’s martial advancement accelerated sharply during high school. A later Martial Guard investigation concluded that Rao Fuxing had used a magic array to drain power from three people and transfer it to his grandson, helping Rao Mingxian gain the strength needed to enter Martial University. The case was sealed because of incomplete evidence and the influence protecting Rao Fuxing. 332

At Rucheng University, Rao’s rapid progress finally earned his grandfather’s pride. Rao Mingxian began as an insecure youth shaped by family violence, public ridicule, and years spent in the shadow of more celebrated Rao Family descendants. His later strength gave him confidence, but also sharpened his resentment. After becoming stronger, he assaulted former classmates whom he believed had mocked or belittled him; Rao viewed this not as petty revenge, but as avenging the child he had once been. 197 229

He nevertheless possessed a strong sense of loyalty toward people who treated him sincerely. He recognized Zhou Leng as the group’s “battle soul,” admired Zhou’s fearlessness, and repeatedly offered support despite the danger of opposing his own family. 93 103 Even after entering the Demon Worshipping Cult, he secretly warned Zhou Leng of incoming attacks and admitted that there had to be at least one person in the world whom he would not betray. 370 408

His loyalties remained fractured. Rao wanted revenge against Zhang Xiaoxiao for the deaths of his family, sought the power to rise beyond his circumstances, and submitted to powerful patrons such as Madam Xiyan and Zhao He. Rao Family Conflict

After becoming close to Zhou Leng, Rao was pressured by Rao Mingxing and Rao Mingjun to supply intelligence on him. He tried to protect both sides by sharing only minor information, but learned that the main Rao Family knew the truth behind the Fifty-ninth Middle School incidents and had helped suppress them. 258 297

Realizing that blood ties did not make the Rao Family his true family, Rao poisoned and killed the group led by Rao Mingjun when they attempted to force him into betraying Zhou Leng. Zhou later tended to his injuries and gave him healing resources without demanding an explanation. 307

Demon Worshipping Cult Service

As the Rao Family collapsed, Rao pledged himself to Madam Xiyan and became involved with the Demon Worshipping Cult and Merman Cult. He accepted orders to target Zhou Leng, but secretly warned him about the pursuit by Aiden, Radiance of Mingzhu, Gong Futing, and the Flesh and Blood War Chariot. 353 370

Qiu Fusheng exposed Rao’s communication with Zhou. Rao killed Qiu, admitted his wrongdoing, and prepared to die, but Madam Xiyan deleted the evidence and redirected him to Zhao He instead. 408

Great Battlefield

Rao delivered a Battlefield Shield Token to Zhou Leng and witnessed Zhou’s extraordinary Bone Forging-to-Muscle Strengthening promotion. The event forced Rao to confront how far his former classmate had risen beyond their ordinary school years. 485 488

He continued serving Zhao He while concealing Zhou’s true potential, denying suspicions that Zhou was the Arrow Bearer in order to protect him. 465 Rao also handled the aftermath of Zhang Xiaoxiao’s death, relaying her message and eventually providing Zhou with information about the White Lake sacrifices. 537 544

Death

Zhao Cong later ordered Rao to lure Zhou Leng to the Mother Tree. Rao refused, recognizing that he would likely die before succeeding and insisting that he was only following Madam Xiyan’s orders. Zhao Cong executed him and publicly used his alleged collusion with Zhou Leng as a warning to the other Demon Worshippers. 672
