Rumble—
Not long after the Shattered Dragon Scale was unearthed, the weather suddenly changed. Dark clouds gathered, lightning flashed and thunder roared, pressing down so heavily people could barely breathe.
A torrential downpour followed. Rain poured down like the Heavenly River tipping over, and the deep pit whose water had been drained was flooded once more. Wind and waves smashed apart the riverbank, and laborers and common folk fled in panic!
River Water surged backward, and the Abandoned County Town was submerged once again...
The Silver-haired Man and the man in black both looked grim. So far, all they had found was this small piece of Shattered Dragon Scale in their hands. The Dragon Hunting Crossbow seemed unwilling to emerge.
"Let's go. The Dragon Hunting Crossbow is entangled in matters too weighty to appear in this world. With the dragon scale, we can study a way to break the seal. The Dragon Corpse... is our hope of becoming immortals and gods."
The man in black remained silent. The Silver-haired Man was right. Their only means of attaining longevity was through the legendary Dragon Corpse.
If the seal remained unbroken, they would not find the Dragon Corpse. Perhaps they would have to live on the ice plains for many years to come.
For ordinary cultivators like them, with mediocre talent and no great backing, there was only one way to attain longevity: borrow external power, whether through pills or certain heavenly treasures. Countless cultivators roamed the world day after day in search of opportunities. Every dangerous land and secret realm had long since been scraped clean to the last inch—where could any chance encounters remain? Thus, many cultivators risked entering the Hundred Thousand Mountains before their allotted lifespan ran out.
If they found an opportunity, they could take another step forward.
