Lin Xuan possessed the Soul Suppressing Pagoda by the time he entered Divine Firmament Holy Land. He had already accumulated thirty years of internal cultivation time and regarded the Pagoda as his means to overcome his ten-thousand-year Useless Body. Its existence cannot be detected by others, making it the secret Lin Xuan guards most closely. 4 15 49

Initially, only the first level was open, while eight further levels remained sealed. The Pagoda allowed Lin Xuan to spend stored time cultivating internally while almost no time passed outside, giving him the accumulated experience of centuries or millennia without outward aging or an apparent effect on his state of mind. 148 353 1065

Its second level awakened during Lin Xuan's encounter with the Myriad Manifestations of Life. The Pagoda violently seized the Exotic Power and transformed it into a gentle sapling within the Divergent Energy Space, allowing Lin Xuan to draw on its life force safely. 167 168

The Pagoda later demonstrated autonomous defensive instincts when Shenzang attempted to possess Lin Xuan. A hazy light manifested the nine-layered structure in Lin Xuan's spiritual sea, froze Shenzang's remnant soul, and scattered it. 1313 1314

By the later stages of the story, the Pagoda begins communicating directly with Lin Xuan.
