The AGE 1 Hydra Type was equipped with nine remote weapons called "Hydras." Six of the smaller ones were Type-A Funnels, or Attack Funnels, mainly used to attack targets. The remaining three were Type-D Funnels, or Defense Funnels. They were roughly twice the size of the Type-A Funnels. Besides attacking enemy units, their more important function was actively defending against enemy attacks, allowing the two types of Funnels to coordinate in both offense and defense.

The AGE 1 Hydra Type launched the first attack, firing a beam from the DODS Gun in its right hand.

Earth Sword switched its Beam Shield into a remote Beam Shield to block the beam, then drew two Beam Assault Guns from either side of its waist armor and returned fire.

The AGE 1 Hydra Type had its three Type-D Funnels deploy their Beam Shield functions, blocking the rapidly fired beam rounds from the Beam Assault Guns.

Built on the Sparrow equipment, the AGE 1 Hydra Type retained excellent agility. It lacked the humanoid lower body of an MS, with feet resembling those of a bird. Its thighs were bulkier than ordinary humanoid legs in order to mount more thrusters, giving the unit greater ability to evade enemy attacks.

Making use of those advantages, the AGE 1 Hydra Type flew differently from ordinary MS, which usually tilted forward at a body angle of forty-five to seventy degrees. It adopted a zero-angle flight posture like an aircraft, improving its straight-line acceleration.

The AGE 1 Hydra Type fired its DODS Gun at Earth Sword while flying.
