No one expected this fellow to suddenly act as though he had gone mad, dragging the Kirin Beast a short distance to the side.

Just as the Kirin Beast was about to say something—

A huge crater suddenly appeared where he had been standing.

A giant foot had come crashing down. The Kirin Beast could hardly believe what he was seeing, and he asked the old man,

"What is that thing in front of us? Why does it look so strange?"

The old man laughed.

"It seems your knowledge is truly lacking. That is the Snow Monster of this place. If it steps on you, even if you don't die, you'll be crippled. Fortunately, I reacted quickly enough to pull you away. Otherwise, you would have been dead for certain."

Hearing this, the Kirin Beast was terrified. He no longer bore any resentment toward the old man.

Instead, he was immensely grateful.

The old man did not hold it against him and merely said,

"Stay behind me and wait while I defeat this fellow. That way, it won't keep bothering you." With that, the old man stepped forward and began fighting the creature.

The Kirin Beast watched from the side.

But after a while, he realized that his worries had been completely unnecessary.

He saw the Snow Monster get driven away by the old man with ease. Apparently, its strength was nothing impressive.

He immediately went to the old man's side and examined him. Only after finding no injuries did he finally relax.

He then showered the old man with grateful praise.

However, the old man suddenly became rather strange. He immediately wiped the smile from his face and said,

"You don't need to keep flattering me. Let me tell you, go back where you came from and never appear
