Background

Lu Qingyu was born in Blackwood Village. Her mother died giving birth to her, and her father later died after being whipped by the Returning Truth Sect over unpaid tribute, leaving Qingyu and her two brothers orphaned. 1

As a child, Qingyu worked the fields alongside Lu Qingfeng. Though small, thin, and weathered by labor, she was lively and fearless; she carried her own buckets, refused help, and immediately armed herself with a hoe when Zhou Quan approached them. 1

After Lu Qingshan was taken to Yellow Ganoderma Mountain as a Returning Truth Sect servant, Qingyu wanted to learn literacy and cultivation so she could one day help rescue him. 5

Appearance

Qingyu was initially a small, underdeveloped, dark-skinned village girl who appeared much younger than her actual age. 1 As she matured, her appearance became markedly more refined and graceful.

She is notably free-spirited.
