Background

Ao Le is the youngest daughter of the Min River Dragon Lord, Ao Zhan. During her childhood, her mother was taken away by the Western Sea, leaving Ao Le isolated in the Wu River Dragon Palace. There, she endured mockery and abuse from the Wu River Dragon Lord's children, a history that shaped her early timidity and withdrawal. 365 366 386

Lu Qingfeng was selected as her husband because the Dragon Palace detected his extraordinary Azure Fortune. Their marriage began as an arrangement imposed by the Dragon Lord, but Ao Le quickly proved shy and inexperienced rather than arrogant. Lu Qingfeng's promise to protect her from further mistreatment became the foundation of their growing trust. 365 366

Over the next decade, Ao Le and Lu Qingfeng studied Nature Cultivation classics together. She offered him an Immortal Dao method out of concern for his future, while he publicly adopted Nature Cultivation to conceal his own circumstances. Their shared study transformed their political marriage into a close and affectionate partnership. 367

Appearance

Ao Le is a beautiful dragon maiden whose reserved bearing initially reflects her uneasy upbringing. She is later depicted with long hair tied by a white silk ribbon, snowy-white satin robes, and a tasseled white sash; after crossing the Leaping Dragon Gate, she appears in pale-violet robes. 405 484

  • Can assume a true-dragon form. 484
  • Commonly carries a sword while serving in the field. 370 421
  • Her expression and demeanor become more animated and confident after building a life with Lu Qingfeng at Yuan Lake. 370

Personality

Ao Le begins as extremely bashful, soft-spoken, and fearful of rejection. Her restraint is not portrayed as weakness: it stems from abandonment and prolonged abuse during her youth. She gradually becomes more open with Lu Qingfeng once he consistently explains his actions, treats her gently, and promises to protect her. 365 366 367

She is deeply loyal to her family. Ao Lie's concern for her, Lu Qingfeng's protection, and Ao Jun's affection each matter greatly to her, while her confidence in Lu Qingfeng remains unshaken even when he is accused of defecting to the demons. 375 421 422

Years of separation and military hardship reshape her into a decisive commander. As leader of the Yinchuan Water Army, she orders retreats when necessary, prioritizes the survival of her soldiers, and personally covers their withdrawal. 421

Her nine reincarnated lives reveal exceptional moral endurance. Even when stripped of her memories and subjected to poverty, war, illness, slavery, and repeated loss, she remains compassionate, resolute, and committed to helping others. 496 498
