The sight of thousands of missiles launching and exploding simultaneously was spectacular even in the vastness of space!

The dense sea of missiles launched, then detonated at designated positions. Each explosion formed a deadly cloud of radiation in space, and those radiation clouds continued expanding. In barely more than ten seconds, they completely shrouded an area thousands of kilometers ahead of the fleet!

The Galactic Republic fighter squadrons, flying at full speed, crashed straight into them!

The fighters that came into contact with the radiation clouds began disintegrating almost instantly. Their shields were eroded away, their metal became brittle, and within seconds, the radiation clouds—laden with immense radioactive energy—tore them directly into fragments!

Obi-Wan Kenobi's fighter was positioned slightly farther back. The moment he sensed danger, he ordered all fighters to turn, but it was still one step too late. He could only watch this horrific scene unfold before his eyes.

Of the first wave's 1,100 fighters, more than 800 charged directly into the radiation clouds. Their communications were cut off instantly; they did not even have time to scream before the radiation clouds dissolved them into space dust.

"All fighter squadrons, retreat immediately! I repeat, retreat immediately!!" Obi-Wan Kenobi shouted over the comms. At the same time, Wullf Yularen's order to withdraw came through as well.

The remaining Galactic Republic fighter squadrons had already begun turning around and fleeing. The terrifying sight of that missile barrage had stripped them of every last shred of courage to continue fighting.

Yet before they had flown very far, ten dazzling beams streaked past them and struck the Hunter Class Battlecruisers at the front of the Republic fleet!
