Battle of Christophsis (15)

Bang!! A Clone Trooper was knocked to the ground. He quickly raised his blaster rifle to block the Indjori's claws. Another soldier beside him charged over with a roar, slamming the Indjori down from the side before raising his blaster rifle and unleashing a concentrated barrage.

Although the blaster fire failed to kill the Indjori outright, the heat from the bolts kept building until it ignited the fat within its body. The Indjori instantly became a ball of fire, then burst with a puff, splashing several soldiers from head to toe with green liquid saturated with the T-Virus.

"No good! There are too many of these undead! Fall back and request artillery support!" the squad Commander ordered. The Clone Troopers fought as they retreated. "This is Squad A-5. We're on the northern section of Blue Crystal Avenue. This area has been occupied by the undead. Request bombardment support in thirty seconds!"

"Coordinates confirmed. The target area is only one hundred meters from your current position. Can you withdraw to a safe distance?" came the reply over the comm.

"No problem! Fire away!" The Commander hurled two grenades in rapid succession, then used the explosions as cover to charge hard to the rear.

Thirty seconds later, one of the Acclamator-class assault ship's turrets in the sky adjusted its aim and fired a Turbolaser straight at the spot they had just left! Then came a second shot, and a third!

The Acclamator-class assault ship's other turrets could also be seen firing intermittently, supporting the ground battle.

Boom! Boom! Boom!!! Even at safe power, the mighty Turbolaser cannon was like a miniature nuclear blast, swallowing that massive horde of zombies along with half a city block and leaving nothing standing!
