Orbital drop!
This was Matt Hona's next gamble!
Compared to its explosively cool name and combat style, orbital drop had never been a pleasant thing, whether for the enemy or for one's own side.
People were thrown down from low Earth orbit at an altitude of roughly 2,000 kilometers. To increase the chance of breaking through defenses, they were often accelerated continuously, only activating the Reverse Thrust Engine when they were close to the ground, using the engine's reverse thrust to blow open their parachutes and land.
No matter how one looked at it, such a process could not be called safe. It could even be described as suicidal. The Gravitational Acceleration involved was terrifying. Even with layer upon layer of protection inside an orbital drop pod, ordinary people would never be able to walk out alive.

The Fourth Civilization had only conducted some preliminary feasibility studies on orbital drops. The High Command believed that they lacked suitable warships, suitable equipment, and suitable personnel, while the risks of such operations were simply too high. Thus, the establishment of an Orbital Assault Team remained a distant prospect.
Moreover, compared with the development and construction of other large warships, the creation of an Orbital Assault Team was not a high priority.
