The Confederacy of Independent Systems had in fact extended the flames of war into the Mid Rim Territories several months ago. However, the planets they attacked were all relatively underdeveloped Mid Rim worlds, and places where there was still a possibility of political persuasion.

But one point could not be ignored: in the Mid Rim Territories, let alone worlds willing to oppose the Galactic Republic, even planets that declared neutrality and refused to join the war were few and far between.

Count Dooku's Separatist ideals had already ceased to work once they reached the Mid Rim Territories.

General Grievous had another reason for his opposition: supplies. Even while the war was still mainly raging in the Outer Rim Territories, supplies were already stretched thin in many parts of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The clearest sign was the steadily declining mechanization rate of its forces.

In many cases, the Confederacy of Independent Systems' ground forces relied primarily on B-1 battle droids, while the numbers of heavy combat droids such as OG-9 Nest Spider battle mechs and IG-227 Hailfire battle mechs were decreasing across many battlefields.

Insufficient production capacity was one issue. The other was transportation.

For example, a Luukri-Hok-class battleship could theoretically be crammed with up to 300,000 B-1 battle droids. But that was impossible in actual combat. Large numbers of MTTs had to be loaded aboard to deploy the battle droids quickly, along with C-9979 landing craft to facilitate planetary landings.

On top of that, heavy units such as AAT assault tanks and OG-9 Nest Spider battle mechs also had to be carried. These heavy units occupied even more space and required greater quantities of supplies to keep operational.

Even a Destroyer droid required five or six times as much transport space as a B-1 battle droid, and they
