A month had passed since Gu Yu left St. Freya to travel abroad.

During that time, he had visited beaches to watch the tides, looked down upon the scenery from towering peaks, and sometimes chosen to join passersby and travelers amid bustling tourist spots to admire the views.

Every so often, he contacted his companions in Anti-Entropy and the Far East Branch. According to them, though, there had been no news of the Thirteenth Herrscher lately.

Not only that, after the Twelfth Herrscher's defeat, Honkai outbreaks around the world had gradually begun to decrease in frequency.

If Gu Yu had not read the script and known that every era was destined to have fourteen Herrschers, he might have already believed that the day of eliminating the Honkai was close at hand.

During this time, he had not used Aurora Curtain or the Decade Stigmata carved into his right hand even once.

Though he did not want to admit it, he had come to realize something.

His journey on the battlefield had finally reached its end.

During his previous battle with the King of Fangire, Gu Yu had used both Emperor Power and Honkai Energy in enormous quantities, then activated Wake Up Three, which inflicted tremendous damage on his own body.

With those two factors combined, he could feel that his life was nearing its end.

Traveling around to clear his head was, frankly, nothing more than an attempt to avoid everyone's worried gazes.

His companions had all noticed his condition to some extent. After giving it some thought, Gu Yu figured that having someone about to die wandering around in front of everyone every day was inappropriate, so he might as well roam around outside on his own.
