To celebrate this book making it onto the encyclopedia, here's a character design commentary section.

Or rather, a character design roast section.

First up is Gu Yu... There doesn't seem to be much to say about him. He was basically a rehash of the previous character design.

For his expression, I emphasized a wry smile. For his clothes, I specifically emphasized the black vest and white outer coat, symbolizing how Gu Yu appeared pure white while a [Man in Black] lived within his heart.

The Man in Black's character design was changed.

Originally, the Man in Black was supposed to wear a black cloak, but after finding an artist, I suddenly came across a Makima cosplay picture...

Yeah, suits were actually pretty good too.

Any concerns about not matching the original setting were minor. Q Taro even changed the color of his clothes when he went to TV, so it wasn't a big deal.
