Background / History

Odin exiled Thor to Earth as part of a plan to alter Asgard's foretold destruction. Odin's prophecy indicated that Thor's and Asgard's futures improved the closer Thor's exile brought him to Li Congxin, whom Odin believed could alter fate. Odin therefore sent Mjolnir to Li's home and expected Li to help guide Thor and safeguard Asgard. 239

On Earth, Thor initially loses both his divine power and Mjolnir. Li Congxin explains that Thor must complete Odin's trial rather than simply reclaim the hammer, then persuades him to work as an actor for Nirvana Pictures and learn practical survival skills and kingly responsibility.
