A faint beam of light chased after that thing.
September opened her tired eyes and stared blankly at the thing that had suddenly appeared before her.
It was just an ordinary tin frog. There was even a slight dent in its rear, as if it had been hit.
Back when she was in the orphanage, kind people had donated toys, and she had seen tin frogs like this before.
Back then, they would fight over the toys.
But how... how had this thing appeared here?
An invisible force spread silently through the air. September watched as the tin frog hopped out of the wall on the left, bouncing toward the wall on the right.
She instinctively propped herself up and stood, following it.
She walked very slowly, and the frog hopped very slowly too.
Every time it landed, the "click" it made carried an endless echo.
Everything around her was rapidly fading away. The entire world was left empty and hazy.
Only this beam of light, one tin frog, and a dying woman remained.
She was hungry—far too hungry. She had originally lacked even the strength to stand.
Yet at this moment, she somehow found the strength to slowly follow the frog's footsteps.
The frog reached the wall, and there was no path ahead.
September tilted her head. Her cheeks, gaunt and deeply sunken, showed a trace of confusion.
But then the tin frog gave a light hop and jumped straight into the wall. Ripples spread around it.
She reached out uncontrollably to touch it, and the impenetrable barrier seemed to vanish in an instant.
She walked straight through the wall.
The surroundings suddenly changed. Behind the wall was a primeval forest. A huge, eerie moon hung in the sky, so enormous that it seemed about to fall.
The jungle,
