Background

Qin Shuang was trained by the Old Man of Three Absolutes from age seven to sixteen. During those nine years, he learned the Heavenly Frost Fist, Frost Steps on Thin Ice, and Heavenly Frost Qi. He later returned to Chaoge City and served in the Dragon Guard for two years. 1 2

He is the son of Qin Hongmian, the Dragon Guard Garrison General known as the Asura Blade, and belongs to one of the Dragon Guard's hereditary families. 1 25

At some point after joining the Dragon Guard, Qin Shuang was secretly taught the Innate Formless Divine Art and Innate Formless Finger Sword by a masked mentor. He concealed this instruction and initially kept its full power as a personal trump card. 2 18 40

Qin Shuang is a tall, straight-built young man with sharply defined features and deep, dark jade-like eyes. 1

Qin Shuang is confident, ambitious, and highly competitive. He openly expects to rise quickly through the Dragon Guard, but his confidence is supported by a willingness to train, investigate, and face stronger opponents. 7 8 20

He values character and loyalty over mere talent. When recruiting Kou Zhong and Xu Ziling, he prioritized their integrity, brotherhood, and refusal to abuse Dragon Guard authority over their martial-arts potential. 10

As a commander, Qin Shuang is decisive and often ruthless. He executed Qu Xiu for rape, poisoned hostile Imperial Guards to reduce his own side's casualties, and ordered the destruction of the Medicine King Sect after Cheng Lingsu was imprisoned. 17 19 38 His severity is balanced by compassion: he spared Imperial Guards who refused to surrender to Western Xia, provided cultivation resources to his subordinates, and defended vulnerable people such as the Wolf Girl. 21 26 45
