Background / History

The Demonic Cult originated after Great Yu overthrew the previous Yu Chi dynasty. Surviving members of the Yu Chi royal family escaped into the martial world, where they founded the Azure Lotus Sect as a restoration movement. Over time, the sect absorbed evil martial artists and court fugitives, secretly recruited troops, and developed into both a martial organization and a rebel army. 39

Its objective is not merely rebellion for its own sake: the Cult seeks to restore the Yu Chi Clan to the throne and reclaim what it considers its former realm and imperial inheritance. Cult members characterize the Yin Clan and Great Yu as usurpers. 192 254 264

Great Yu previously located and besieged the Cult's lair more than fifty years ago. The organization survived, but afterward kept Bi Fang Grotto-Heaven's true location known only to Protectors and higher-ranking figures. 502

Bi Fang Grotto-Heaven is the Cult's principal stronghold, a grand complex built within a mountain range. Ventilation shafts carved into the cliff face channel sunlight into the interior, leaving the mountain complex as bright as day. Its central palace resembles an imperial hall, reinforcing the Cult's claim to dynastic legitimacy. 191

Yongtang Infiltration and Early Clashes

The Cult operates an underground palace beneath Yongtang City and dispatches agents to recover artifacts connected to an azure lotus emblem, a treasure map, and a jade fragment. After an assassination plan fails, the Protector orders Bai Yan eliminated while confirming that three embedded agents have infiltrated a delegation. 8 34

The Imperial Guard later suffers more than 200 casualties and loses three Company Commanders while pursuing Cult members. A subsequent operation targets Yiping Villa, a Cult hideout associated with Heavenly Gang Hall Master Mad Saber Xiao Yiping; the Cult withdraws before the force arrives, though the operation is recorded as the destruction of a stronghold and capture of a Heavenly Gang Hall Master. 41 45

Ghost Venerable's Yongtang Scheme

Under Ghost Venerable Bai Tu Jin You, the Cult abducts martial artists around Yongtang; official records identify more than 100 missing experts over two months, including at least three Masters. 156 157

The Cult then unleashes controlled assassins throughout Yongtang, assassinates senior officials, poisons the Imperial Gift Bureau, and foments citywide chaos to occupy the Imperial Guard and other government forces. Its deeper operation targets the imperial palace and exploits Prince Xingtai's rebellion. 160 165

The Crimson Blood Demon Emperor infiltrates the Treasure Pavilion, kills its Grandmaster guardians, and takes the Cult's desired prize. Recruitment of the Yellow Python Lion King

Heavenly Speed Star approaches the Yellow Python Lion King—Bai Yan's assumed identity—with an offer of immediate appointment as a Protector in exchange for joining the Yu Chi restoration cause. 254

The Cult conducts an extensive background investigation before accepting the candidate, specifically checking for connections to the Great Yu court. 258 Sha Emperor Swift Feather later formally accepts the Lion King as one of the new Six Venerable Protectors after receiving Prince Chun's head as a token of allegiance. 391 399

Expansion Through Infiltration

The Cult uses agents to absorb or compromise outside forces rather than relying solely on direct conquest. Shadow Venerable Feng Muhe infiltrates the Heavenly Will Sect, while Heavenly Hero Star spends years rising within the Black Scorpion Sect in an attempt to bring it under Cult control. 288 392 423

It also attempts to place Yuchi Yuhuan within the Eastern Noble Family through its son-in-law selection event. Such an infiltration would potentially give the Cult the family's wealth, manpower, and a means to undermine a court-connected noble house from within. 423 430

Foreign Operations and Renewed Rebellion

The Resentment Emperor abducts a Great Yu princess, slaughters the envoy guards, and replaces them with the Black Armor Army to enter Great Chang under forged legitimacy. 517 521

Yuchi Lingtian later forms a temporary alliance with Supreme Alliance leader Tu Jincang to overthrow Great Yu. The arrangement is openly opportunistic: both sides recognize the other is pursuing its own interests. 540 541
