The Three Noble Children and Waseda Village

They were known as the Father God and Mother Goddess of the Yan Wuyue World, and bore the divine names Izanagi and Izanami.

The two gods were born at the dawn of chaos. Together, they brought forth fourteen islands and thirty-three ancient Divine Sons, followed at last by the Three Noble Children: Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo.

The Three Noble Children governed this realm, while the thirty-three Divine Sons presided over the fourteen islands in all directions. The Father God and Mother Goddess resided in Yashiroden, atop the Pillar of Heaven on Onogoro, the first island.

Inside Yashiroden, Izanagi and Izanami sat side by side behind a hanging curtain, both gazing down at Amaterasu as she knelt below.

Amaterasu, also known as the Sun Goddess, ruled Takama-ga-hara and wielded the divine artifact Yasakani no Magatama. Her brow was deeply furrowed. "Father God, I have felt uneasy lately, as though something ominous has arisen somewhere in Izumo Province."

Izanagi spoke impassively, his voice devoid of sorrow or joy. "A calamity is about to occur."

Amaterasu's expression shifted slightly, and she immediately asked, "What is its cause?"

Izanagi said calmly, "An evil demon has invaded, seeking to steal the Yan Wuyue World. It has already succeeded in stealing nearly a third of this world."

At this revelation, Amaterasu's expression changed again and again. The Three Noble Children governed this world: she ruled Takama-ga-hara, Tsukuyomi governed the Land of Night, and Susanoo was lord of the oceans. Yet all of them had been appointed by the Father God and Mother Goddess.
